Quandary

I have a quandary.....opinions welcome!

I am thrilled to be participating in the upcoming event Where Bloggers Create  http://mydesertcottage.blogspot.com/2010/04/where-bloggers-create-ii.html.

This is the brain child of  Karen Valentine at  My Desert Cottage and this year is sponsored by the fabulous magazine Where Women Create.

Anyone can join in, post pix of their work site. And everyone else can then wander around all the creative and special blogs of the participants! Cool huh? The blog links will be posted for an entire year, so we'll have lots of time to enjoy meeting new artists and snooping around their work spaces.

So here's the thing: While wandering around blogland I have noticed that PALE and/ or white is IN. Now I LOVE pale and white...BUT...my artwork tends to be exuberant...and colorful. My home [where I work] is white, true, with seasonal accents, blue and turquoise in the summr, pumpkin and rust in the fall, red and dill pickle green at Christmas...But okay, it is sorta white.

Now for the quandary: Should I post my pix in brilliant unfashionable " Kodachrome brights", so to speak?

or do we like the toned down, sophisticated look?
Hmmmm?

 Whaddaya think, people?

More Roses...

Roses! It's June at the beach....

These are hybrid roses, from BJ's or Trader Joe's.

Beautiful, aren't they? If a teensy bit past their prime, ooops....I actually like them open and fragrant.

The petals are exactly the colors of this treasured, dived conch shell from my collection...

And here they are captured on an art musuem card....I am amazed at the skill, the perfection of the painter's rendering.

And the roses are not even the focus of the small (9" x 17") painting, just a perfect addendum...

Not bad for $9.99 a bunch, huh?

And a few in my yard, the photos are blurry because of the wind....

Summer weekend

Hi!
Hope your weekend was lovely! It was HOT here at the beach, unexpected for early June. But now, finally, a delightful dry breeze is bringing us nicer weather---for Monday, sigh.

The farmers market was better than ever!

Such pretty flowers...

Fun to stock up for the weekend...

An interesting wine (Summertide---I loved the name! The wine itself---not so much, soooo sweet, too bad.). And lovely crusty breads, artisan olive oil, fresh mozzarella and the BEST camenbert I think I've ever tasted. Yum.

And lovely fresh, crisp, and colorful veggies---colorful means healthy, right?

And peonies are in season, their brief glorious moments in June.

I got an armful,
filled my Mason jars...

and blue and white pitchers.....

And I made myself a summer bracelet, big chunks of turquoise, a couple of faceted Amazonite beads and a silver sand dollar....

What was special for you this weekend? I'd love to know...
