Out & About ~ Spring Shopping

Good morning! Last week I was able to go out for a short but thrilling visit to Home Goods! Always enjoyable, the outing was extra fun as I was feeling very cooped up and cabin fever. Retail shopping is now considered fairly safe, as we wait for vaccine appointments.

Home Goods was abundantly stocked and rather busy.:

Lovely handblown glass. The wind would demolish this birdbath, but so pretty.

I was so sorry I forgot to get one of these darling Hen garden stakes for my zinnia pot.

Cutie Lady Bug, never saw an art glass ladybug before.

Easter, pretty but not as much as I expected.

I loved the Bunnies of all kinds.

I'd have bought this bowl if the bunnies weren't broken, too bad.

Not much coastal or summer:

They did have the tall lanterns, see previous post, but not as charming as my neighbors' and very expensive. Large and bulky  when seen up close also.

Fun metal holder and milk bottles. Not at all a new idea but cute for summer farmers market flowers?

Throw pillows for spring into summer updates. Indigoes and tribal black and white. Oooo, polka dots, pompoms, ikat! Must go back.

What I got:

Metal tray for sewing/ quilt blocks/ lavender stuffing. The sweet utensils are just a go-with but I'll use them.

Prep bowl set, always needed.

Treat canister for Mo, instead of that ugly red lidded Rubbermaid box.

Great oilcloth big totes! For shopping, though I may go back for more to make a cover for my patio table. 99 cents!

Pink is usefully insulated for summer groceries.

Adorable spring cooky cutters for my someday gramma's hope chest. Maybe the next generation will like baking with me? The bee can be a lady bug too.

Very large canvas bin. a FIND! I've been watching for these for two years since I had to pass one up, unable to fit into B's little car.

It will replace the ugly cardboard box here in the sewing room. I store bed linens and pillows and quilt batting. The little sewing room serves as a make do guest room sometimes.

Trader Joe's is right next to Home Goods so I was able to shop there for the first time in over a year.

I do love their checkout and fresh, clean,  strong paper bags. [One of the many small annoyances here of the pandemic is that most stores offer only flimsy paper bags 10 cents each or we bring our own---BUT no help packing or loading from the cashier. Maybe not a bad thing as my supermarket checker last week was eating Cheese Doodles and drinking Mountain Dew, under a pulled down mask, licking her Cheese Doodle-y orange fingers! Behind her plexiglass wall but eeew, ick. I hated her even touching my items to scan.]

Trader Joe's had their usual perfect and profusely catkin'ed pussy willow branches, 4.99. AND a big tub of ranunculus. So hard to choose!

Delicious cheeses, including their well priced ripe! Brie and a cheddar-Gruyere cheese to try. Ugly asparagus, nice lettuces. I tried the frozen Pad Thai bowl too---gloppy and too spicy. A Fail. Surly shoppers and a bit crowded.

Remember the Zoom virtual shower? A partial fail. I had two devices all ready to go. The event was on Google Meets, not Zoom. And many of us couldn't sign in. Disappointing.

Hi from Mo who enjoys the sun even on the coldest mornings.

Have a good week!

gone to the beach....

The big trucks are back and as aggressive as ever! And the wooden walkway has been removed for repairs, so the it's a hard trek to the shore. Here is a photo from a few years ago. I hope the wind calms by Wednesday so I can go down to greet my  returning Oystercatchers when they appear on St Paddy's Day. Best sign of spring for me. [birds, not the trucks!]
