Farmers Market!

Hi everyone! Hope your week is going great!

Yesterday it was frigid here at the beach! Today it is hot! And sunny, and we may be wearing shorts from now til November...if we're lucky. (And if I can find my summer clothes!) The best news is the local farmers market had its first real day today. (Last week freezing rain washed it out...).
Traffic! Nowhere to park! Summer madness...but worth it.
I scored a huge bunch of lilacs...

The seller brings them from upstate where spring has apparently sprung...

I adore lilacs...Don't you?

Here they are just stuffed in a jug; I bet they'll be even nicer tomorrow when they open...

And a few lovely new greens....

Local asparagus, picked this morning! Yum!

And I thought broccoli rabe, but on inspection, now I believe it is baby broccoli. New and delicate.

And some yummy cheeses from Brooklyn...

From my old neighborhood. The Italian guys bring their cheeses and pastas for us. I had fantasized tonight's dinner as ravioli with the fresh green vegs and the cheeses shaved on top, some olive oil...but by the time I parked and hiked over to the market, the ravioli was all gone! Trader Joe's in the AM, I guess (their raviolis are good too.) Hamburger Helper tonight, lol.

On the way home I detoured into the local surfing beach.

It's about 2 miles west of my own beach. I was the only solitary person there, due to school/work hours, I suppose...and crashing shorebreak/ high tide.

Looks like a fantasy beach, at least to me.

Some summery good life, here at the beach!

(more lilacs and beach posts later in the week, maybe?)

love
