May Day

Hi! It's May! Here is a quote from my blog friend Kit, quoting her granny: "You can change a lot of things, but you can't change the weather: "

This is good advice and I try hard to embrace and enjoy each season. But spring is so exasperating, I really do not like Spring. Last night for Mo's evening walk I had to dig out all my coldest weather layers, yes, snow pants, sweater, fleece vest, fur hooded parka, warm socks, pompom hat. Spitting cold rain 43* with a  40 mph wind painfully blowing sand into our eyes. I love my REI snow pants but for some reason I hate doing all the layers, especially the pants. Then today! 60-ish, brisk breeze and sunshine. Mo and I had our first sewing on the deck day. And now as I type this, I see a robin! singing in Mr Mockingbird's ugly leafless locust tree.

Mo and I are confused and a smidge cranky. Let's take a walk and look for May baskets? C'mon.
"don'wanna, mommy"

"Come on, the wind has lessened; it's safe to go out, little man."

Mo and I found these daffs as buds, crushed into the mud by the winds. Rescued and brought home they burst into pretty bloom. I love them.

And we made a teeny tiny May basket in a very tiny Nantucket basket.

Makes me think of Daffodil Days in Cape Cod and times long ago.

A more beachy version of Kit's quote: We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

So---have an inspired and inspiring week! Bring a jacket, wear your wellies, don't forget your umbrella....
