Winter Lull

Good morning! Is that the sun I see peeking through the endless grey clouds?  Mr Sunshine has been elusive so far this year, but warmer temps are keeping me cheerful. Last night we had a thunderstorm! Seems very unusual for early January.

The cottage is very quiet now. Of course the holidays' glitter and joy are long gone and only winter's long quietude remains.

For want of any mad inspiration I allow the decor to return to its blue and white, with touches of black and brown.

I am so pleased to have new lamps, a Christmas gift.

For a few weeks the mercury glass jars and baubles can remain. They reflect the light and colorless-ness of the winter ocean.

Woodland accents. Berries and dried branches.

Just the one softly colored quilt pulled out so far, plus the Amish inspired doll quilt.

An IG influencer I enjoy , Emily at myweatheredhome HERE adds fresh greenery in the form of houseplants like pothos and ferns. I think she buys new each year! She must discard the plants after styling her pics. I am not a fan of houseplants, mine never die, they just live on and on, becoming humanized and gaining scraggly personalities. I don't have the heart to throw them out or let them die.

I redid my bedroom in layers of warm flannel and a wool sleigh coverlet,

with a lovely plaid blanket that was a Christmas gift.

The wool quilt proved to hot and too fragile for this year's January, so it is replaced with a basic blue for now.

If things progress as hoped and planned, the winter can be enjoyed here in the little quilt room.

Mo finds it cozy, if lacking in ice cream.

Making room on the sewing desk for journaling.

This is a tentative start of a tiny perpetual nature journal. I'm ambivalent--5 years from now? Ten? The foliage here is just not that interesting and the scribble journal so much more fun and undemanding.

Have a great weekend!

_ when you begin your comment, look at the screen to be sure it is accepting the typing. If not, use cursor to mark start of typed words and try again.

_ When your comment is complete, be sure to scroll down and check the box that says Publish. Do not simply press enter on your keyboard as we do for so many other apps. The Publish box is often not visible unless you look for it at the page bottom.
