Happy Mother's Day to all. If you're not a mom yourself you are probably honoring your own mom. Ten or so years since my mom has passed there's hardly a day when I don't think of her or mention her. I do miss her.

May Baskets / Basket Quilts
Here are some in my collection.
For many years I collected quilts but didn't sew them, no time, no incentive. I always wanted a Basket quilt but during those times quilt prices were super-high. I knew an antique Basket quilt was unaffordable. I saw this damaged Tiny Baskets quilt top, below, at an antiques show and it became my first rescue quilt. I sewed replacement Tiny 4" basket blocks, mended or replaced some of the white ground. Finally had it quilted.
Still a favorite quilt and block.
Later I began reading blogs and through ''meeting'' Lori of Humble Quilts I realised it was possible to make a big quilt that looked like, or at least had the feeling of, an antique or vintage quilt. This is my Blue Baskets/ Cheddar Handles from one of Lori's inspirational sewalongs.

A faded but sweet palest baby blue crib quilt, a thrift shop find. [on top of Tiny Baskets, whose red handle you can also see.]

This was an exchange quilt. Still wish I had kept it.

So my Baskets dreams came true. Still a much beloved pattern, in all its variations.
