Ponderings and some Quilting

It's a scrumptious summer day here!

Every summer day we wish away, yearning for ''cozy crisp autumn",  is a day lost forever---a day unsavored, a day closer to what I call the long cold lonely winter, and a day closer to the end of our time here on earth. It is essential, I believe, to enjoy and value each day--for what it is, not for what the internet tells us it should be.
XXX NO pumpkins til October XXX

That said Mo and I have had a few less than perfect days.

Yesterday we were immediately driven off the deck by swarms of biting gnats and yellow jacket wasps.

My neighbor has a fig tree with a lot of unharvested ripe-to-rotting fruits and it is really a wasp magnet.

poor Mo!

Then today the peaceful silence was broken by the stench of diesel? leaf blowers and plumes of toxic dust from outdoor tile cutting for a nearby rehab. The tile guys wear respirators, but Mo and I had to come indoors or risk lung damage. below, Mo guarding us from the tile guys!

As a tiny nod to September halfway point, I changed my coffee table runner from this much-loved old runner in Caribbean blue,

to the darker indigo runner made with seashell toile and Japanese indigos. Also moved the big wicker pineapple into the dark antique wooden bowl. That's it til October 15!

This week was my bimonthly IV clinic day at a new location. My friend drove me to help me find the place. There actually was a small amount of parking--a two-hour towaway zone lot, as is street parking there. The treatment takes 4 hours; how awful to come out [in the future] and find one's car towed.

Over the weekend I worked to get Giraffe ready for quilting as I recuperate, but no.

I decided I was too foggy and could not do nice enough work on Girafe, especially starting in the center, very visible.

So I dug out a very old project.

I was reminded of this cutie by Lori's new sewalong. This Scotties quilt is from Little Quilts too.

I never considered it a UFO, an unfinished project, as I had made it celebrating my previous Pug, even though he was not a Scottie.

And when he died I was so heartbroken and set this aside.

Now I can finish it maybe. Poor quilting will go lost in that black plaid. The Doggies are all quilted, just a 1/2" section left undone. It is so old I see I was trying out the machine buttonhole stitching on my then-new/now-old Brother machine. Maybe I'll add a pug plushie and give it to a little girl for Christmas.

Here is my new morning tea book. I love it though it is very repetitious. From Amazon used books.

Do you call multiple Lego bits  "Lego" or "Legos" ---the book is British, but Lego as a plural is jarring constantly. I always say LegoS.

My beach doesn't have much plastic; I don't think I ever found a Lego piece there.

This is last week's doodle/scribble page.

I was so excited to have a hummingbird come to my cannas. Maybe they are migrating?

Less excited to keep seeing these posts on my weather feed. Far away, yes, but ya never know. This week we are watching Fiona.

Back soon, enjoy these September days.

PS: Your thoughts?---Conundrum: my Friends count on FB dropped by one. I lost a friend. My ''friends" are cyber friends, quilters usually and a few book friends. I wish I knew who left me. And why.
