A Little Bramble Berries [mini-post]

Hi! Just checking in on the Bramble Blooms Sewalong. Regular post will be in a day or two. That said I am really concentrating hard on completing Marsh by March 1, so while I do lots of BB pondering I don't do much actual sewing or even prepping. Audrey says Part 3 may appear this coming week, so since I am still mired in Part One, well. Late but trying?

Here's what I did this week:

First to remind you all, these are the inspiration pics.

\\

I cut out some of the red stripey tulips. Need a few more petals.
They'll be fused and app'ed with a straight stitch.

To the lower left are the candidates for the solo two or three [must it be 3?] other colored tulips.

EDIT: The Next Day....

Greens for leaves and stems. Green is my least fave color so I really scrounged for these.

Also shown some border ideas for Part Two.

I'm pretty sure I'll introduce some graphic black and white Pinwheel blocks somehow. But cannot find my black and white prints. I think I know where they are but back pain says No bin rummaging. So I don't exactly know. Inspiration pic from Fat Quarters Shop.

More amazing black and white prints: HERE

That's it for BB! I does look like I envisioned. Ad you know that is very important to me, improv notwithstanding.

Mo says have a great weekend!

Out and About Between Snow ''Events'

Hi everyone! A sunny Sunday as we yet again dig out from yesterday's snow. A ''dusting'' that morphed into maybe 8 soggy windy inches. Quite the shock to wake up to. Baby Mo has had an array of dogwalkers these past few weeks. We are so grateful for the help specially in icy conditions.

Last week best friend L and I ran errands between snow storms and got in some fun shopping too. Over the bridges, look at that misleading summery sky.

Trader Joe's to stock up on food supplies and fresh vegs---and oh, the flowers! I got more hyacinth bulbs and pussy willow branches.

The store was jam-packed with flowers, as if they knew we needed a springlike mood boost.

Then Home Goods.

You may recall I so enjoy their annual winter merchandising event of treasures from exotic faraway realms. Makes me want to be a cozy boho, neo hippy for winter.

These were beautiful, seemed made from vintage rug remnants.

I loved the handmade notebooks. Yes one came home with me! A fancy Scribble Journal?

I esp love the hand sewed and beaded [ tiny bells!] spines.

A few Valentines left:

Sweet bunnies and ''currently trending" cabbage-ware! [see feed from IG--- @myweatheredhome
HERE ]

And a big shelf of blue and white VERY large scale vases and urns

I loved the yellow too!  And note the heart edged small table behind the yellows.

But look what I have at home, a gift from a friend, below. I filled my giant vase with the Trader Joe pussy willow branches. Though I actually bought the branches to prop up my indoor bulbs.

I was limited in what I got at Home Goods because I had so many heavy bags of groceries, sigh. Chair pads, patio cushions, big glass jars for seaglass collections, bed for Mo's birthday. That yellow ginger jar  vase. All for ''next time."

What I brought home.

And some other doings for mid-Feb~
Almost done w final borders of Marsh! Then piece the back and send it to Lori C for her magic quilting finish. On target for March 1 finish.

I'll have a quilt post and another on the winter bulbs soon. The bulbs are gorgeous, only the tulips were discarded finally.

And today I'm making potato/leek/ corn chowder. No recipe, just how my mom made it. I need something warm because I got silly, was craving lots of fresh greens, so dinner is a radicchio, endive, Boston lettuce Caesar salad, with focaccia croutons, and rolled up deli roast beef [have to push those red meats/ anemia]. Dressing with garlic, lemon, olive oil, lots of pepper. Sounds pretty delish s I type this.

And...I was just invited to a party! A birthday party! Whatever shall I wear!

This is for blog friend CodlinsandCream2, who is also making a log cabin quilt. This is a TQC postcards quilt and fabric. Two little quilts. I love mine under a pitcher of tulips now.
