Random Little Hearts ~ Valentine Love to You All

Hello, hello. Today is a snow day! Not my fave unless I can stay inside and the power stays on. Posting this early, ''just in case".

First I have to show you this oh so fun Valentine thing: Pasta hearts by Barilla. I so wanted them, but lookit that price.

A box of Barilla spaghetti is like, $1.49.

Then, the past few weeks  I made some pretty little hearts---but  etsy has banned me, so sad. Hearts---and hearts to share---are a bit of a ''Lizzy" icon, a special talisman I have made and/or collected since I was a young teenager. Not-Valentine hearts are scattered about here year round, not just for this sweet February holiday. I even have a heart shaped cutting board whittled out by my dad years ago and a puffy gold heart charm that my parents gave me for my 16th birthday, now on my sentimental charm bracelet.

The new hearts:

reclaimed linen...in a thrifted heart basket from my worktop.

here tucked into an old apothecary jar with my heart cooky cutters.

Herbal heart, made with a tattered quilt scrap. "Rosemary, that's for remembrance." Romantic and sweet and prim.

The herb shown is lavender Mo and I scavenged, but the sprig really should be rosemary. Or  a tiny pansy posy---even an old key or a small love note fragment?

linen backing.

Bandboxes, gifted from my brother and SIL over the years. I usually store small Christmas finds each year, tucked away until the holidays.

A tiny prim heart found in one of the Shaker boxes.

A jar of cinnamon hearts, with a handmade pug Valentine tucked in.

A sailor valentine souvenir box encrusted with shells, lined for sewing . Cutest pouting child in old photo!

Seaglass heart, a beach find, many years ago. A mid-century Swedish?/ Danish? glass ashtray.

You can see the faint sea and sand wear on its base. Too unusual to return to the tide to ''finish'' [weather]. It has also turned faintly yellow. Some glass's mineral components turn yellow, similar to older glass we find that is lavender or purple. Yellow is rarer. I use it to hold knitting markers or thimbles, bobbins, etc.

Mo in his favorite neck warmer by blog friend Mel. Gray reflective yarn with a red heart. These are wonderful! Easy on/ off and can be pulled up to protect little velvet ears. Yesterday, before the snow.

And his Valentine's Day bow tie!

And just for fun [and to warm the kitchen] I dug out my old tin heart shaped cake pannn and made some snow day cornbread. Sure, it's a mix, but easy, fast, delish. I added a bit more sugar, a dash of vanilla,  some canned plain corn . Yum!

Happy Valentine's Day!

gone to the beach....

PS The hat fit and child loved it! Yay!
