Christmas Wrap[Up]

Hi! I hope everyone had lovely holidays, with more to come ii you like to party on New Years Eve or Day. It was very nice here at the beach. Some pictures:

Antipasto served for friends who may stop by and to nibble on as we open gifts.

Followed by a simple meal of lasagna and sauteed broccolini.

Mo enjoys a romp in the wrappings mess.

Here he is earlier, looking for Santa?

He's very proud that his baby  Reindeer sweater still fits him, though maybe not in quite the same way.

Earlier we practiced hat wearing again. He absolutely would not wear his jingle bell garland. Not on his hat or around his neck. Pugs traditionally wore collars with bells in Victorian times. Mo was not impressed by the notion of historic exactitude.

This is my box from my brother and SIL. I hoard it and savor it, just knowing something special lies within.

Here is my brother's Gingerbread House cake he baked. I must find out more about the mold he used

On Christmas Day I was invited to my friends' house. This is their lovely seaglass inspired tree.

Mo was invited too, but he gets too excited and he threw up---everywhere.

Their specialty for Christmas dinner: braised short ribs, whipped, mashed parsnips, stuffed mushrooms, and a new veggie casserole of tiny brussels sprouts, yellow raisins, and almonds, with a touch of balsamic vinegar.

Evening at the solstice, this is the furthest south the sun will set; it hovers for a day or two then slowly begins its northerly creep to warm us again come summer.

It's quiet here now, though much warmer. My friend helped me tidy my deck for winter.

I resolutely removed many flower pots and will prob remove more in the spring.  I am having a fairly severe flare up of my joint pain which makes me more than a little unhappy. I thought I was doing quite well. It took a big effort to sit down to sew. I made the first two tiny blocks of the TQC Little Tree project. The blocks are very small, 2 3/4" unsewed.

I felt guilty because I have baby quilts to make. I cannot possibly trim and bind the tee shirt quilt either. Maybe if the doc Rxs some better pills?

Happy holidays!

Christmas Eve-Eve ~ And all through the house...

Good evening! It is the day before Christmas Eve---are you ready? I think I am though I haven't vacuumed yet, or washed the good wine glasses, or---ironed the napkins. But mostly ready.. Let's do a final walk through?

view from my kitchen on a foggy day

Red boutis, handquilted whole cloth quilt, French or German. From my mom, faux or no?

Ely: bought on the way home
after my son's first skating lesson/ outing in Prospect Park.
He was 2 1/2.

Last run to the market this morning!

I didn't buy flowers because a friend brought me a huge bouquet of holly, from his new house. Lovely.

Gingerbread cake baked in a Swedish Horse mold. He'll look better turned out and powdered.

Antipasto fixings all set out. Looking good. I am so excited!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, may the holiday bring peace and joy!
