The Storm

Random pics by me and from friends. Unorganized, mostly unedited.

This was a difficult storm because of all the overblown media coverage and barrage of local alerts on phone and computer. Lots of tale about Hurricane Sadly 2. Frightening bec Sandy was one of the most  terrifying experiences of my life, maybe more so than the live real time watching of the WTC attacks. [wiser weather person quoted below:]

But really, yes power failure and a bit cold, but ''just another rainy weekend", in all honesty. And the wind blown salt spray has killed all the zinnies and cosmos.

Storm incoming:

Surreal pre-storm sunsets, the low sun shining under the edge of the huge storm's clouds

Monday aftermath, near surfing beach to my west.

Monday as storm finally cleared, my house view of final sunset.

And soon, October. It was so grey, so dismal, I started earlier than usual.  Sunny days ahead though.

  1. Your pictures are amazing. Glad you were given sound advice, “this is not Sandy” so you could batten down the hatches, as they say, and know it’s a storm that you’ve weathered the likes of before.

  2. Great photos Lizzy--such gorgeous colors merging into one another!!:)))
What is that "A Month of More time in Nature" listing? Looks interesting...
Short today as both of us are having Covid shot reactions --ugh!! Hugs, Julierose

    1. Did you get the weird too bright sunsets too? How did your big trees fare?

The To Do pages are from a website that generates creativity prompts. I'll email you later.

Hope you feel better by tomorrow.

  3. Almost October. Funny how our favorite times of the year change as life changes.

  4. So glad all is well, you and safe, and no real danger. The ocean looks so ominous and those sunsets. . . Are the two arcs of light what they call a sundog? I've never seen one and they don't look like rainbows. We got a much needed all day rain storm from the visit of Hurricane Polo on the west coast. The ocean in your pictures looks so angry. Love the page of creative things to do, I'm going to have to plan some activities with my youngest grandsons. We are living in a time of tumultuous weather.

    1. How lovely to have grandsons visit. The To Do list has fun ideas, some very simple. Great w kids. The sunset arcs are rainbows; sundogs appear in full sun, clear skies and are rare. A fun kids thing not mentioned is autumn sugar cookies, you just need leaf and pumpkin shapes [amazon?] and fall colored sprinkles or sugar. Regular suage mixed w cinnamon works too. Kids usually love baking esp on a rainy day.)

  5. You have some beautiful pictures there! We had rain all day yesterday, falling straight down which is a little unusual for here! No real storms, just areal flood alerts and mud. But its only 55° this morning so I think fall has finally arrived! I'm looking forward to cooler weather!
The creativity list looks interesting! Too many things, though. I would choose just a few - but it's a fun idea list. I can tell they days are already getting shorter, and dreading the time change. I wish they'd hurry up and abolish it, just pick a time!
Here's hoping we have a nice long peaceful fall!!! Take care!

  6. The to do list is just suggestions, I had no plan to do it ALL. Some things are everyday things, like a bouquet of wildflowers. I gathered some on my beach walk yesterday, just a jam jar posy. Then the geese flew overhead, honking loudly--so bird listen crossed off too, lol.
I was just hiking how we never have good old rainy days anymore. Just these big scary storms. I do love a rainy day or even a snow day [NOT a blizzard]. I know you like sweater weather! Enjoy.

  7. So many splendid sea shots. I don't think I'd move from your table in front of that sea view. I'm fascinated by the subtle changing details and light.
We've been on the edge of torrential rains. No damage besides electricity going out because of heavy wet vegetation weighing on lines. Good to hear you're ok. Pennyxx
