Hello! Not much is happening here in Lizzy-Land. At three and a half weeks since Covid got me, I am doing well---just struggling a bit with post-Covid ennui. Today though I must make make pj-s for my friend's dolly! [done!]
And I'm working on a commission of pillow cases and sofa cushions for other friends.
We had dense fog, now blown away by very high winds, 50 mph. Mo and I will stay in.
Friends have been sending me pics of the outside word! From Mel in Kansas, a lovely
end of winter sunset.
Another friend's walk on his [very eroded] beach. These are not black and white photos, just the relentless grey of March at the beach. Dismal
Yes, the sand will return. Possibly assisted by the giant trucks that busily work each day doing who knows what.
One still grey evening the sun peeped out and --magic! Better than the much admired ''golden hour" of July and August, a pink sunset.

The grocery guy brought daffies yesterday.
So pretty. And Big Red's final bloom fades away. Last of the amaryllis this year.
Pansies! No pansies this year---since I missed the annual Garden Show. A bit sadly I pulled out this lovely fabric and some of my pansy and violets plates.
I am unsure on first thought how to use the pansy fabric. It's beautiful but the muted colors don't work as sofa pillows and lack contrast to be used in a quilt.[what would you do with it?]
The plates may go on the pine plate rack just for April, we'll see.
Mo and I had fun celebrating his birthday!
I made him a tiny cake.
Spring--three more months til summer! Have a good week!
love
lizzy
gone to the beach....
PS I do my best to answer all comments. If you're in the UK or I do not have an email for you, or you're anonymous/ unknown, I answer here online. [it seems customary on UK blogs to reply on the post?]
If you're anonymous, it's good to sign your name and area , so I know it's you.
If I have your email , usually USA friends, I will, as said, do my best to respond. Thanks!
What pretty plates. I have a lovely china teaset decorated with violets, we bought it on holiday in Devon in the 1970's. I have the teaset on display with others in a glass cabinet. My late husband was very fond of pansies as am I. We had a glorious display of yellow through shades to orange one year.
ReplyDeleteThose pink sunsets are gorgeous.
Hugs to Mo for his birthday.
Jean. In England.
Teas sets with violets are a favorite of mine. I have a set of cups and saucers, wish I had the creamer and sugar bowl. Yellow to orange pansies! How delightful. I always tend to go to the blue shades but I must rethink that, I love the bright color idea.
DeleteGlorious pink sunset pictures!!:))) Our winds seem to have died down a bit here so far this morning. A big relief here with DH's surgery over and having gone so well...
ReplyDeleteI will be quilting Dark Days 3rd block as my hand project for the next few days...nice stitching as it is only two layers and easy to "needle".
I just love your pansy dishes--and those fabrics are beautiful-they would make a nice blouse for summer--??maybe. Or featured in a low volume piece...
Mo looks quite the "Dapper Dan" in his birthday chapeau;))) so cute. Hugs, Julierose
What pretty plates. Up on the rack with them! Lovely pink sunsets. No sewing happening here. Just NOT in the mood. Gardening instead.
ReplyDeleteThe wind is shaking things off shelves, but I ll put a few spring plates up adding museum wax to hold them in place.
DeleteIt's much too cold here to garden, I will cut some tiny squares for that little quilt maybe.
Thank you for the beautiful post. Things are still very quiet here. I think I may be in hibernation! So glad you're feeling better. Mo looks adorable. Please kiss his nose for me.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Dear Hunter, I don't think hobernating in Maui is an option.
Deletehibernating*
DeleteHappy belated birthday to Mo 🎉! Love the pansy dishes, reminded me of a set of violets on small dessert plates (I think) that my mom had, probably with my sister now. I love those two fabrics, especially the grayish background one, truly special. The green would make up into an elegant table runner, don't you think? Your little friend is truly blessed to have an auntie who makes such beautifully detailed dolly clothes! So happy that you are finally feeling better, now for some warmer spring weather so you can get some sunshine.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute little pajamas! I'm sure your friend loved them.
ReplyDeleteWhat winds! I don't think we've had 50 mph winds ever, that I can remember. That relentless grey.... We have it here, too, but sadly, we don't have the ocean!
That's an amazing pink sunset.
How sad you missed the pansies. I love them! Your pansy fabrics and dishes are so beautiful. The pansies on the fabrics look like hey would do well with a frame of their own, just to be show-offs. I can imagine muted pillow covers.
Happy Belated Birthday to Mo! What a cute little cake.
I'm confused. When I go to My Quiet Life in Suffolk blog and look at the blogs she reads, I find a new one from you. It states it's from two days ago, so probably Monday. The picture has what looks like a large white bottle on it, but when I tap it nothing comes up on your blog except this post with the pink sky which I commented on and you replied to me. What has happened to that white bottle post. I am intrigued, and keen to read.
ReplyDeleteJean.
Oooh so sorry! Blame my still Covid fog. It is/ was a draft that shouldn't have been published, it was a ''revert to draft". The bottle is a friend's recent find on the beach, late 1800s, 1900s toilet water or cologne. We always get very excited to find whole bottles. I 'll add it to this week's Friday night-ish post so you can see it.
DeleteThank you for such a prompt reply. I was beginning to think it was my technological inadequacies that couldn't make it appear. Lol !
ReplyDeleteI did wonder if it had appeared by .mistake though. Covid or not, you are far more Internet savvy than I am.
I look forward to reading your next post, as a fellow shell, pebble, beach glass, driftwood collector, but only when luckily enough to go on holiday.
Jean.
