May into June Nature Journals

Hi guys! It's Monday-ish and I ''promised'' to post my recent journal drawings. Not my best work, the change in seasons and some other issues has been distracting I think. And birds are hard to draw! Not making excuses, just an observation.

I do find the drawing/ coloring/ painting very comforting and relaxing which I suppose is just as important as the results.

That's Book One filled Year One/ Perpetual Journal. Book two, July thru December arrived today. Moleskine Watercolor Book, 3.5" x 5.5"

Off topic, my friends' beautiful early garden, filled with so many lilies! I say ''early'' because after the lilies finish blooming, the roses and hydrangeas will come into full bloom.

*bird photos used here via google/ Audubon online, not mine.

  2. I should try and get back to drawing again - if I did less family history on the computer, I would certainly have time! How lovely you have a Cardinal visiting daily. They look so exotic (we don't have any red birds and a lot of brown ones!). When the children were small there was a x-stitch design of Cardinals on a tree in a snowy winter scene in one of my American quilting magazines. Oh how I wanted that, but no way could I afford it.

The roses look like my new rambler (as of last year) Rambling Rector.

    1. Your drawings might add to your family history. It's always so interesting to see old journals and scrapbooks, sketchbooks. I'm safe from genealogy, my families are small, well documented, and extremely dull.
The floribunda is bush not a rambler rose, prized as a hedge and for habitat, lovely berries. No scent as far as I can tell and very brief bloom time. Your rambler will be much prettier!

  4. Any kind of creative effort is good for the soul. You are fortunate to have the ability to draw and paint, as well as your beautiful quilting. We are in the gloom of another smoke plume and the air quality is in the hazardous range today and tomorrow. No gardening going on here for a few days. Hope it doesn't get too bad down there.

  7. I think your drawings and paintings look wonderful, especially considering how small they are. Yeh, I think birds would be hard to draw, too, but you do it so well.
Your last two ocean photos, before Nicky's--isn't it amazing how many blues the sky and ocean offer?
