A Simple Christmas ~ Use What You Have

The holiday season is reaching its final crescendo, all that's left are cookies to bake, last minute table settings to unearth. What a change for me, a collector who once loved lavish colorful decorations, every treasure unpacked and displayed with such joy. Each year something new, something more--family heirlooms, flea market finds, handmades---all abounded.  Life and Covid have changed that, for now anyway. But the joy remains--let me show you? We will start with my oh so tiny tre.

The house looks rumpled and a smidge shabby---Loved items:

Tantalizing gifts did arrive!

And new pink ornaments from my brother.

Mo, indignantly removing his Chihuahua sized naughty/nice hat.

Mo approving the interestingly edible bracelets.

Doomed to disappoint, as they are glass.

Festive socks, peeking below jeans.

"May your days be merry and and bright!'', dear friends!

Merry Christmas!

  4. Postin for "B" Dearest Lizzy,
    HiπŸ˜€
    Saw your beach home decorations.
Your hat boxes, the bigger stack,
Needs a star on top. It's shaped
Like a Christmas tree, and the
colors are right. Maybe fairy lightsπŸ˜‚
    The little one too.πŸ˜‚
Maybe a starfish atop that one.πŸ˜‰

  6. There's a line in a song "Feels like home to me, feels like I'm all the way back where I belong." That's what I see when you show photos of your homey comfortable cottage. I doubt either of us would be happy in an instagram house! I'm intrigued by your Christmas tree that appears to be made of sea glass with the starfish on top - did you create it from your beach finds? It's beautiful. Love those cozy colorful socks too!

  8. 'Use what you have' says it all for me. Less is definitely more. It's all about association and meaning. We don't have Thanksgiving over here, but I feel that gratitude is embodied in this Christmas for me and many others.
You have captured this so beautifully in your small decorations and collections that are spread throughout your home. The band of Santa brothers in their bowl, your festive beach collections in clever containers says Christmas Spirit louder than any over the top excess. My favourite Merry Christmas quilt is just the cherry on the top. How I'd love to make my own. It speaks to me!
Your little pinecones remind me of collecting them with childhood friends and making decorations.
Those jolly socks are real 'Gone to the Beach' sunset socks!
Merry Christmas wishes to you and the Patient Pup.

  9. Your home looks so comfortable and inviting, Lizzy. I always love seeing your carved angels but I don't remember ever seeing your red cupboard. It is gorgeous! It looks like you were able to repair the little horse and cart toy from your dad. It's so fun. As are your socks.
