Good morning to everyone on this magnificent October day. A Ten Best, it just begs for a roadtrip to Vermont for a pumpkin, some cider and cheese, to see the leaves in their red and gold glory. The rain has passed and the air is soft and warm as a May day, if indeed May were not always cold and wind torn.
Decorating: I like to decorate my home within the season. I aim for my Fall updates to be completed by Columbus Day. I'm not one to start moaning for Fall, for setting out punkin stuff the day after Fourth of July. I find it festive and rewarding to have each season arrive, to dig out the quilts and baubles in their time.
It may be a carry over from early childhood, when there would be NO Christmas decor except a wreath and advent calendar until Christmas morning, when we'd wake up to a house transformed. "Santa" brought the tree overnight!~ [however did my young parents manage that?!] Both my parents were strongly influenced by the holiday traditions of their Alsatian [German/ French] and Swiss immigrant heritages. Sadly, family history says I found this terrifying, and would cry and hide, age about two and three.
Old favorites revisited,
Happy October!
Mo is walked, the beds are made; I will run a quick errand then walk on the beach. That is sufficient unto this day and time.
I love your seasonal decorating with so many beautiful, clever arrangements throughout your home - warm and inviting.
ReplyDeleteThe mellow, worn star quilt is a favourite. Penny
Your home looks so perfect for Autumn--Starry-Eyed Jack looks amazing and I really like that quilt on the bed--you have some nice Fall collections.. A lovely post...Happy to see Mo looking "in the pink" once again;)))
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julierose
I love how you decorate for each season. I haven't done that since my kids were young - I haven't even decorated for Christmas for several years! But I love to see yours.
ReplyDeleteAs I was looking through the pictures I kept wondering where Jack was, lol, but spotted him a moment later! I'd forgotten about the other Halloween mini-quilt with the buttons for 'teeth', too.
And all the mirror-glass pumpkins! So pretty with a few real (or real-looking) pumpkins scatted in. You may not get much 'real' company because of the virus, but I feel like I've visited and appreciated it!
It's turning cool here again - only 50 degrees when I got up today! The forecast HIGH for Sunday is only 53! I like the cool but hope winter stays away longer... Have a good day!
Oooo I love your pumpkins with faces!! Of course I would...lol We also had Santa decorate the tree on Christmas Eve. Then before you could blink it was gone. So of course now I put it up the first Saturday of Dec. I like new traditions. Kit
ReplyDeleteAlways so fun to see your fall decor emerge, especially those beautiful quilts. What do you use to paint those pumpkins and squash?
ReplyDeleteOh, glad you had a ten best day! Makes me feel hopeful.
ReplyDeleteAll of your pumpkins are so fun. You know I am partial to the mercury glass. Do I see the damaged one in the arrangement on the floor, by the sofa? What a shame. I like the white pumpkins you have, too.
How darling is the Haunted Spirits quilt on the bench. Do you know where you will place the quilts before you start putting them out, or do you move them from here to there until it feels right?
I do hope the little bird recovered. It can't be an easy life.
Thanks for sharing your home all decked out for the season!
