Hello! Happy holidays! A storm is blowing in this Easter Friday, don't let that blue sky fool you! Chilly mid-50s, very windy. But inside the beach cottage Mo and I are relentlessly sunny and springlike.
Mo is very happy that I have mislaid his bunny ears.
I made matzo ball soup to ward off the chill. Second try, different broth. Much better, yum.
I searched my closets high and low for daffodil accents to add to my blue and white decor. Found nothing except some silk forsythia and a few small quilts.
I'm relying on my new bright pillows and vases of spring flowers, eggs and bunnies too. You'll see in the photos how the rooms evolved over the weeks since end of March, items moved and rearranged, ending in a very Easter-y look, just for this week. Using yellow is new to me, it required experimentation and patience, but no real effort, no ''heavy lifting'',lol.
Easter Basket/ "Tiny Baskets'' quilt on the bed. Flannel sheets and warm throws still very much needed.
Adding [easily changed out] bright yellow accents:
This is a pillow made with a remnant of a beautiful Coxcomb pattern. I hope to remake a version someday. The quilting is exquisite as is the reverse applique. Very poor condition now.
The Swedish bench evolves...
I love my authentic eggs and get them out in late March.
Flowers everywhere, so plentiful and inexpensive in the stores here. The candle is bergamot scent.
A favorite plate under the candle, Cape Cod Dump Swap Shop treasure.
The glass cylinder vase, from the Costco tulips, now holds Easter eggs.
Another little quilt and Bunny.
More flowers. The blue hyacinths smell so delightfully of Easter and spring.
Tiniest old ink bottle c.1850?, a beach treasure, 1" tall. It holds a sprig of hyacinth.
Enjoy your holiday!
love

gone to the beach....
Tonight: The Pink Moon, be sure to look.
Your home is so beautiful!! Love your Easter basket quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove the bright pillow on the sofa! And all the flowers - I'd have to drive 45 minutes to have anywhere near that assortment of flowers.
ReplyDeleteI've never had matzo ball soup, wish I could taste your picture, LOL.
We have TONS of bright yellow dandelions this year, they're everywhere. I just sent a couple ladies recipes for dandelion wine...hope they make some and let me know how it turns out!
It has been cool here today, in the 60s I think, but really sunny and nice. I hope you have nicer weather for Sunday! Stay warm!
Raining hard here tonight, I suspect it will be headed your way by tomorrow. I love seeing your decorating photos, very inspiring! I'd love to see more of that blue and white quilt on the left side (as viewed in the photo) of your armchair. Happy Easter!

Oh, yes, I had seen that you were expecting inclement weather. It takes more than that to keep you and Mo down :) Oh my, the soup looks very tasty.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty quilt on the bed. Your eggs are so cool. Remind me, are they made of wood? The tulip vase is a nice way to display them. THAT BUNNY FOOLS ME EVERY YEAR!
Ooooh, I really like the punch of yellow from the new pillow covers. How are you feeling about them now?
Too cloudy here to see the moon last night. I was bummed.
Have a good weekend!
