Pumpkin Patch

Happy Halloween! Every year my friend and I go to the pumpkin patch. Just us, no kiddies---we're not ''too old'', even if the kids now are. In fact I'll never be too old for this special treat.
This is the pretty garden center over the bridge on the mainland. Not too far, an easy drive and it was a gorgeous sunny day.

Lots of pictures, I'm leaving them in the order I took them, so that you can join us on our pumpkin search.
Brilliant color greets you as you enter the grounds.

Pink windflowers, brown-eyed susans, bronze coral bells.

Pre-planted bushel baskets, love the combos of plants, colors.

Expansive greenhouses full of Fall goodies...

I was taken by the beautiful old blue ladder, of all things.

And I loved these giant deck pots, glazed in glorious colors. No prices, though. [I was hoping they were on sale but they seemed to be just stored here.]

Every pumpkin and gourd you can imagine!

My neighbors decorated their yard and deck with these very large funny gourds, below, and giant orange pumpkins, plus a ghost or two.

Inside were the fairy gardens, all decked out for Halloween.

And ooooh, look! Polka Dot pumpkins.

Then the outdoor pumpkin patch, all the gorgeous punks, glowing in the afternoon sun.

As you leave, more beautiful flowers and planting, these are perennials and grasses mostly.

Love these coneflowers.

For the quilters who visit, does this not look just like a Kaffe Fasset print! here

one version, below.

As for me, I went home empty handed. I was overwhelmed by the choices. Silly me.  My faves:
the pastel striped guy on the right~
but Warty is verrry cute too!

The huge green and orange striped carving pumpkin.

The white, the turquoise...? Polka dots?

Srripey on the left....

My friend was more focused. Here is her front steps.

Abundance of autumn joy....thanks for joining us!

  2. What a fun trip. I haven't ever seen half of those pumpkin varieties. And the warty one. Oh, my.

    And all the flowers.

And you didn't spend anything? I've been window shopping, too. I'm getting in the habit of enjoying shopping without spending any money. It's getting sort of fun. lol

    Thanks again for sharing.

  3. I so enjoyed the patch visit with you. The colors are glorious. The blue ladder is sweet- since I have been quilting, I notice more colors and designs. Love ya and Captain Mo.

  4. So pretty! I would have had a hard time not getting anything. Loved the dark pink flowers that looked like sweet williams. And the bushel baskets - I can't remember the last time I saw a bushel basket! I didn't think they made them anymore! I think I would have gotten the orange and white striped pumpkin...the warty ones I can't decide if they're cute or creepy, LOL. Love all the weird gourds, too.
    Thanks for sharing!

  6. How fun! Who knew there are so many varieties of pumpkins. The warty one looks like it has mutant peanut shells stuck to it. They are all spectacular!

I especially like the bushel baskets too. My Dad used to have dozens of them stacked in his garage. He used them for crabbing. Wish we had saved some. Though they might have been a little smelly?

The fairy gardens are so sweet. I like the one with the ghosts, and the cemetery one too.

The flowers all look so pretty, as do the cabbages. And, yes, the cabbages DID look like the print!

Great post, so many interested and pretty things to pour over. I'll be looking back at this one a few times.

    1. Hi Kel! Yeah, I m not sure I love Warty, but theyre interesting..and, well, pink!

Maybe it s best you didn t keep your dad's clamming baskets. They might smell a bit on hot days? Isn t that why clam baskets are usually metal, so they can be washed? He must have raked/ dug a LOT of clams.

I love the fairly gardens...but have not gotten any so far! Mel tries to temp me now and then..nd L and I saw giant glass globes at HG, that could be hung, had a loop and rope..so the fairy garden could be safe from Mo....???

Im so happy you enjoyed yur visit.
