This year’s solstice coincides with the Strawberry
Moon – a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence. [from Google]
What is the Strawberry Moon?
It is a full moon, which occurs in June, named by early Native American tribes.

It is a full moon like any other, but marks the
beginning of the strawberry season.
The two events coincide once every 70 years.
Story HERE
Oddly the moon never gets very high in the summer sky. I haven't figured this out quite yet, as the moon's seasonal course seems less set than the sun's.
Gully enjoying the late evening pink sunset.

gone to the beach....
ps for those of you who were interested in the Ship Finder app, this is what the screen shots look like. The paid version has more info and pictures of the ships.
Very cool about the Strawberry Moon and Solstice! I'm sorry I didn't get out to see it! Love the 'cotton candy' colors in the sky in your photos.
ReplyDeleteHubby found the ship app and played with it. I don't know why - not many ships HERE! It really would be something cool to have if I could see the ships from my house, though.
Take care!

That app is so fascinating!
ReplyDeleteOur moon was very bright and unfortunately Oregon's strawberry season is over.
It was a beautiful moon. Wish I had the equipment to capture it in a photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the fun pics!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous moon! And the story makes me think of strawberry pie and whipped cream ... wonder if at the end of summer there is such a thing as a watermelon moon?
ReplyDeleteMy evening/night photos seldom turn out. I think you take some great shots!
