Goodbye, My Dearest Boy : Baby Mo is Gone

 Baby Mo - 3-19-14 - 3-07-26

Yesterday I lost my best friend, my dearest constant companion of almost 12 years. There's a hole in my heart, in my world.

Dear Mo, no one could have ever loved you more.
love and kisses, mommy

''You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know how much i love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away."
[our song]

goodbye, my darling boy. We'll meet again somewhere in time, a sunny beach, a deck overlooking the ocean, filled with joy and sunshine.

lizzy

    1. Thank you Jennie. My friend came and helped me sort Mo's belongings to donate or recycle. But the house is empty now, and I suppose always will be. Thanks!

    2. Oh no - will you not have another companion? Perhaps give a rescue dog a 2nd chance at a happy(ier) life? I imagine you would be so lonely without a dog to keep you company.

    3. Not replacing Mo anytime soon, prob not ever. I'll have to make a new routine, start over. Friends like you who know loss and grief ---as do we all---will understand.

  5. Oh, no, no, no, no. That's such sad news, Lizzy. I'm so sorry. Losing a pet is sometimes worse than losing a human family member. Our dogs are so constant, happy to see us, non-judgmental, dear friends who are always there, ready to listen (even if they don't understand). I know you will miss him so. I wish I could offer more than words, but I do understand how you must be feeling. Though I never knew him in person, I will miss reading about Mo. Hugs.

  7. My dearest friend, Lizzy, I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful companion Mo. Our companion pets are just so heartbreaking to lose, they take a piece of our hearts with them when they go. Hugs, Kara

  12. Oh my.
    I am so sorry.
Every new posting for the last two months or so I feared for this day.
    You loved Mo
You cared for Mo when he was not well.
Try to find comfort knowing he is not suffering and you and those that helped you with him did the very best of your abilities.
He is forever in your heart.
Cry for him, cry for yourself.
I know you struggled with his health and still struggle with yours.
    You did your very best.
He has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is no longer in pain.
    sending hugs.

  13. Create a Rainbow Residency for your beloved Fur Child

    The Rainbows Bridge Poem
RainbowBridge.comJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

  14. Lizzie I’m so sorry. I know the unconditional love our pets have for us. I have loved and lost two pugs. My last was rescued from a horrible puppy mill and I could see the gratitude she had. Take care.

  15. I am so very sorry Lizzy. Losing a 4 footed family member is the hardest loss to bear. Be happy for the years you have and listen for his spirit in your dreams and quiet times outside.

  16. Thinking of you and little Mo so much as I looked through your 2020 archive for a pic of your little Jane Porter brown basket quilt.
St Patrick's Day Mo in his jolly green top hat! You always made me smile when you described him having the 'zoomies' or making a nest in your/his fabric container while supervising quilt production. Thank you for sharing him with us. The void left behind is like ours when cats, Zsa Zsa and Coco went. Bless you for giving him the best life. Penny Xxx

  19. I know I commented on Instagram, but this post hits home and makes me so sad. I've seen many losing their 4 legged friends lately and I suppose that gets me ready for Elsa. She is aging so fast. I'm sure you have a huge hole in your heart and routine. He was an amazing and funny companion. And a great topic for your blog! We all loved Mo too!

  23. Oh Lizzie, I know I haven't replied for a while, for reasons I was going to write in an email, but I have been reading your posts.
Oh Lizzie, I was so shocked to read about Mo. I am so very sad to read this, sad for you and for beautiful Mo. So sad that as soon as I read it, tears rolled down my cheeks.
I know so well what it's like to lose a devoted and adored pet, more than a pet, a much loved part of the family. My heart breaks for you.
No words can express the love and companionship you and Mo had. Losing him will not only leave a huge hole in your heart, but a huge empty space in your home.
Mo was deeply loved and spoilt by you, he truly deserved all the love and special treats you gave him, and in return loved you.
You gave him a wonderful life, no-one could have given him a better one.
    Sending hugs to you.
Love to beautiful Mo too, may your Spirit continue to walk down those little lanes to the beach, every day. X
