Happy Friday! Welcome to Blustery World, so typical of Fall and November, yet always a surprise--- we expect warm yet crisp sunny days, as Fall finally begins here at the beach. The wind is blowing so hard I couldn't easily open the deck door for Mo's pre dinner pitstop. And this alert came the other day, what the heck is low water alert? [sandbars/ boats run aground, but still...]. EDIT: Saturday, the next day: The weather changed and is sunny and warm, a soft breeze wafting over the dunes, so gentle. It's like a May day. So perfect. The forecast was for cold and rain/ wind, now has been changed to warming by Wednesday! Out come the shorts...see you at the beach.
The Googly Eyed Jacks are done and sewed into their quilt center. I gave myself til Halloween Day/ Nov 1 to accomplish that and finished right on time.
Aren't the guys just too cute, if not so pumpkin-y.
I laid them out with their button eye/ teeth finishes, so they look more focused.
I'm not a button sewer---glue gun allowable?
These work pics show colors best, I think.
My pattern doesn't show the border [or that page went lost], but I had my heart set on a jig jag border. Will use flying geese instead of paper piecing the pennant shapes.
I plan to use my beautiful Halloween fabrics from Two Thimbles.. Tough to cut into, but each set of four geese only uses 5 1/2"square.
I do like the result so far.
I thought I'd be putting them aside til next fall, but so so close to being all complete. Probably poor Ark will rotate to end of line instead.

Got sidetracked today w a dolly outfit. My little friend chose the Ladybug fabric
and requested "Bows" she could tie, because she is ''obsessed'' with having learned to tie her shoes recently. A child of Crocs, flipflops, UGGs and Velcro sneakers, she suddenly wanted to wear tied sneakers and needed to be able to tie them. So funny. My dad taught my kids to tie their shoes, so I had no advice to offer.
Dolly outfit made!
Mo has had a fairly good week. He is still wanting to be on the deck, baffled by the chill and gale winds, and my reluctance to sit out with him. Poor mite is back on his diet, he gained a pound. Oh the shame.
Back soon, have a great weekend.
lovelizzy
gone to the beach...
too windy to walk, here's my desk view of the ugly locust tree.
Cold and blustery at the ocean sounds too cold for me! I've never heard of a low water advisory. It looks like it didn't last too long, though. It was strange when we were at the ocean there were flood warnings. I expected people to be responding with alarm but they basically ignored them. We did too.
ReplyDeleteYour Jacks are just too much fun. Their faces are so expressive. Some almost look spooked or worried by the idea of Halloween. Great colors!
What an adorable doll outfit. She will love those ties!
Googley-eyed Jacks are so funny and adorable, Lizzy...the "buttoned" eyes really look great!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been the windiest season so far here that I can recall...almost all of our leaves are down now and it's looking a lot like Winter....
Still resting for the most part and trying to finish up some more smaller pieces...
Poor lil' Mo, don't you wish you could explain things to him? Not to mention the baffling time change!! Glad to hear he had a good week...hugs, Julierose
Windy here, too. One day the backyard looked like it was raining leaves! We did get a little color finally but it may not last long with all the wind .
ReplyDeleteLove the Jack's! LOL about sewing on the button eyes! If it's a wall hanging glue guns would work fine.
Progress on clearing out the garage is going slowly unless Kelly can help, but we keep working on it. I want my car inside before snow!!
Take care!
Amazing how adding the buttons on the eyes changes the jacks expressions! What fun you've had with these! Our weather has been wild and woolie here for the past week, starting with fairly mild temps then turning rainy and colder, every day with wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. Now we have snow predicted for Monday through Wednesday, 4-6 inches in our area. Sweet outfit for your little friend, she will love it. If Mo is gaining a little weight it hopefully is an indication that he's feeling a bit better, I sure hope so.
ReplyDeleteWell you are on a roll!!! I'm so glad you decided to finish these guys up and not make them wait another year. Such a fun project! The doll outfit turned out really cute. Thanks for sharing the request of your little friend for bows. Mo looks as dapper as ever. Have fun sewing the flying geese with those lovely fabrics. (I love the squirrels).
