Good-ish news! For many the friends who have sent healing wishes and asked after Mo: his vet appointment today went well, in the sense that the special order antibiotic was able to be inserted into his inner ears. This is a major success.
There's a slight glitch as the massive dose of antibiotics to follow up [same as for my spider bite infection], which was sent as enormous capsules, an absolutely NFW [NO!] for Mo. Hopefully the vet will send a substitute in tablet form.
Now we wait, for follow up in one month. So still a high stress waiting time. Hopefully this will help and we can avoid surgery, find a long term way to treat Mo's ears, and eye which has a parallel infection.
He came home and was super stressed and upset. I have him in the cool dark bedroom after a brunch of scrambled egg and a half of a hemp calming chew.
Thanks, everyone, so much for your kind support and love.
This week's regular post is the previous post below.

Oh bless him, hope you can get a smaller substitute for the enormous capsules. I bet the next month will drag so slowly for you too. Sending (((HUGS))) to you both.
ReplyDeleteThanks! *I* had trouble swallowing the giant pills, Mo is just a little guy. I think I found the tablets to sub online. Even your buttered pills trick is not working with some of his meds. I had to get fancy rare sliced roast beef from the deli.
DeleteGood news for Mo's successful appt")))--but, those "horse pills" just won't do--hope they can find a substitute for them...Poor baby Mo--
ReplyDeletemeanshile, both you and I are wearing our nurse's caps today ;)))
DH is also resting and still groggy...
Gentle hugs for Mo and you Julierose
We'll send up healing love to your Tom and Baby Mo too. Glad today went well. Hope you have an early night, lulled to sleep by current thunderstorms.
DeleteHi Lizzy, happy that Mo's visit went well. I wonder if you could open one of those ginormous capsules and mix the contents into his scrambled eggs or another treat/food that he loves. Like the old song goes "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down." We had thunderstorms this morning, glad we could send them your way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief, my heart was in my mouth when I first saw dear little Mo's picture! And I get so annoyed at veterinary meds - why do they make everything so huge? And I sometimes wonder if the vets have ever been around actual dogs with the off hand advice on how to administer something clearly as big as my little gal's throat. I sometimes use a compounding pharmacist who can make up a syrup version of the same thing (but not always, it is clearly complicated plus expensive!). Poor little guy, I hope he is more cheerful tomorrow! And you too of course... Ceci
ReplyDeleteAny good news is good - love to you and Mo
