Hi everyone! Posting a bit early because of the holiday weekend. No one is home reading blogs, hahaha, when they could be out eating hot dogs and drinking beer.
I am not decorating for the upcoming patriotic holiday. Gone are the days when we could so exuberantly wave our beloved flag, when this was a holiday filled with parades! fireworks! houseful of kids and friends---excitement and joy. Just a fave tiny TQC project flag that stays out most of the year.
Some little colorful touches here and there.
I've used my red/white/blue Stars quilt for more years than I can tell you, before my kids were born, since I was a young unmarried New York girl? It was a find at a PA flea, the binding is, oddly, woven garment labels that say Made in Canada. This year I used the soft pink and blue quilt instead. A rescue I completed also long ago.
......................
Mo is doing okay. He goes out at least once a day for a quiet ramble, temperature and humidity permitting.
Or he snores in front of any fan or AC he can find. "This is the life, mommy!". I think he is content. Zzzzz.
.......
The first deck garden flowers have bloomed!
I am thrlled with these fancy Zinnias, below/ upper right.
Everything is just gorgeous.

DeleteLovely blue and white themed decorations this year--I have to agree about the flag waving--so sad but its meaning has definitely altered....
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Mo up and about for his little walkies...;)))
I hope your upcoming weekend is good. We will be at home and hopefully sitting on the deck enjoying some cooling breezes.
Hugs, Julierose
It's always fun to see how you decorate for each season and holiday, especially your antique quilt rotation. It will be a very quiet holiday here too, no company expected and we won't be going anywhere either. Wish we had a beach near by. I'd love to see the ocean again.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see Mo out and about. I do enjoy the photos of the beach, does the sand ever get blown and cover the boardwalk? How lovely to live by the sea, the air is so fresh.
ReplyDeleteDid my email arrive?
Best wishes to you and a hug for Mo.
Jean.
Hi! I did get your email, will answer later or soon. //The boardwalk is swept daily by homeowners' association employees/ ground crew, who also clean the private beach. Only in dead of winter does sand cover the walks sometimes. They used to pull up the boardwalk every December to March but people asked for year round, so it stays.
DeleteI'm considering displaying our flag upside down, signal of distress.
ReplyDeleteI also got 2 lights like your solar dandelions and am enjoying them to a ridiculous degree. Now if I can find a sunny place outside not too close to the street (where I suspect they would disappear into the car of a passing admirer..). Love to dear Mo.

It is sad that now we see our flag and cannot feel proud. I love that you got the dandelion lights. Would someone really steal them? Maybe if you put them near the house or in back yard?
DeleteYour home is always so beautifully decorated with such lovely things. Mine - HAH - looks like a bomb has hit it and living room especially, strewn with Rosie's toys and books, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
ReplyDeleteThe chaos of children and pets is such a joy, much better than neat and tidy. Enjoy every toy book and cooky that Rosie strews on your floor and sofas.
DeleteAnd you vacuum assiduously! Mo is an ongoing fur explosion and my back just won't let me vacuum every morning like I once did.
DeleteYour scroll is lovely. The blue and white theme feels very peaceful - just what we need these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love the blue and white [tho is iy ''coastal granny'' now?]--but I might go crazy and do wild tropicals some year, just for the smile.
