Well, yes, it's April, spring has arrived.
You can see why I am not a fan.
But the grocery guy brought me pansies. I was pretty amazed. They had 6" pansy pots listed on the weekly flyer but they never ever deliver live plants.
Arent they so pretty. I love how the shopper chose two different but coordinating pots.
The pansies always make me smile. Of course it's too cold to put them out yet, might have a frost this next week. Prob I 'll set them out on nice days, if any, til May.
In honor of the sweet surprise, I covered a rectangular pillow with the green pansy print from a few posts back. Just a fold and pin, for fun. It's how I audition cushion covers.
I know the sofa looks ridiculously over-pillowed. Must move something to the window sofa .
More spring flowers and early Easter decor.
These are tiny chickens by the feedsack animals artist.
Gifted from my brother who wrote: "If you can't afford eggs, at least you'll have chickens."
Bunny and pig by same artist who sells at Springfield OH flea. I must have him get the person's name.

Some online shopping and interesting things:
From Claire at Chickenpants, darling Pug graphic [I think it's a sticker]. Chickenpants shop online HERE She is also on IG and has a newsletter. Solo woman/ business.
And darling strawberry Pugs. Right now available as a t shirt but maybe Spoonflower yardage too in the future. Wow I'd love a quilt with a pug print backing, adorable.
So cool tho.
Anticipating summer I ordered these solar lights for my deck.
Amazon calls them ''fireworks lights'' but to me they are dandelion ''clocks'' [seed heads]. They're so cute, I tried one out then brought them all in til summer actually comes---3 months! That's better than 6 or 9, right?
And a find for cracked painful fingertips. My thumbs especially are prone to cracking in the cold weather. Very painful and they bleed, makes it hard to sew or knit. Anyway I started using this Gold Bond hand cream in January. It really did seem effective both in preventing and healing the cracks. It does last through many hand washings. Not expensive. Amazon. [caveat--while I was so sick w Covid I did very little dishwashing or housework which may have also helped promote healing. Still--worth a try?] PS Other Gold Bond products are okay but nothing special, Curel makes a better general moisturizer, for ex.

Mo is doing well, though on strong meds. He has gone on two outdoor walks, once in the rain! And up and down the stairs. Maybe soon he and I will do a daffodil hunting walk again. Keep us in your thoughts.
love
lizzy
gone to the beach....
Definitely keeping Mo in my thoughts and you, too;))) Hope all went well today...
ReplyDeletePretty pansies and I really like that pansy fabric on the pillow..says Spring for sure...
Looks like a rainy weekend ahead...
hugs, Julierose
I love that bunny at the top of your post. I have a terrible time with cracked thumbs too. I use a very thick cream and wrap them in gauze when I go to bed. Not pretty but it does help the healing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pansies! Seems to me if you're needing new sneakers you can still pick up a pair at Walmart for around $20, wear them once on the beach in the rain and wallah, you've got yourself a duplicate of those ratty old $600 ones. Lol! Heehee, and for good measure let Mo chew on them for a couple days! Rainy wet weekend coming up, including funeral for our sweet friend who lived on the mountain top. Rain seems appropriate for the day.
ReplyDeleteNice pansies, and I love the Lego flowers! They'd never die! I also loved the strawberry pugs and agree the fabric would be cool on a quilt.
ReplyDeleteTaking Omega3 oil has helped my dry skin -that and biotin. I use the Gold Bond for diabetics and like it better than anything else I've ever found.
I hope you and Mo both continue to feel better!!!
The pansy fabric looks lovely on the pillow and the potted pansies are so pretty. As you said, Lego flowers, who would have thought? They look so colourful and bright. The pug picture and strawberry pugs are fun, and I think the solar lights are great. I do like to see the solar lights in my garden too. What a post of pretty delights. I'm so glad Mo is improving, what a pity dogs can't see all those lovely colours like we can.
ReplyDeleteJean.
Hi! Glad you enjoyed the post! btw I did find pics of the Colgate toilette water! Very close, tho none have the fancy base of the one found here. My friend was so pleased to know what his bottle's history is. thx!
DeletePretty pansies. Sorry about your split fingers. I make my own handcream especially for this -Elderflowers in some lard (animal fat) gently melted down and simmered, then elderflowers drained off and a few drops of your own choice of essential oil. Yes, you can use a more modern base instead of the lard, but that is the trick as it is readily absorbed by the dry skin and quickly heals.
ReplyDeleteYour handmade hand cream sounds lovely. If I lived in the UK, I'd get you to send me some. The good attribute of the cream I featured is that it doesn't wash right off, I am constantly washing my hands or something, it seems.
DeleteSo glad you got yourself some pansies. The pillow looks terrific with the others on your couch. I've been quilting like crazy to try and get my marathon quilting project done and. . . I've got a crack in the skin on my thumb. I put a bandage on it with Neosporin overnight and liquid bandage on it today. It worked, I was able to quilt for about an hour. The lights are delightful, they will be so fun to see during the summer.
