It's Wet, It's Windy, It's mid-October

Good morning! Another dreary Friday. This is the seventh stormy weekend in a row here. It's windy but warm-ish, mid-60s.

I put on a butternut squash yellow t-shirt to be cheery, but Mo is hiding, camouflaged in his white blanky on the white sofa back. He is hoping to avoid a rainy day walkies. [below, looking for an incentive bribe]

I've been Fall decorating now that is is actually Fall, so even though I don't put out the Halloween things til Halloween, I'll share some pics of my little home. I hope you enjoy the visit.

I read a post somewhere, the woman had been asked why she collected seasonal items, why she decorated through the year*. And she said, simply: she does it for her own pleasure, it marks the year as it goes by. I so agree. I love seeing my collections again, the glass pumpkins, the cheddar quilts. Sorry nothing new here except the blue Pumpkin.

Welcome, come on in!

Yes, the wind has shaken the boxes off kilter!

Close ups, puttering around with my treasures....aka clutter, junk, stuff, dumpster fodder.

have a fun weekend! Shepherds pie and bread pudding are on the weekend menu. What are you cooking?

gone to the beach.....

The wind, 25 mph off the ocean,  is blowing flocks of tiny birds south over the dunes now. Perhaps they find shelter and seeds for sustenance as they migrate south. Sadly I've begun cutting back the zinnia pots on my deck. I am allowing some to remain, for seeds and for butterflies and bees though none have visited for 2+ weeks.

Baby Mo still spends any sunny-ish afternoon out there, always hopeful for a jerky chew, a scoop of summer ice cream.

I'm a bit sad. Autumn is a time of loss and endings, in its glorious own way.

PS *The same person [I think] was musing on why she still bothered to blog. And a person whom I usually admire on IG sarcastically mentioned, Oh remember when we used to blog, hahaha....Anyway the still-blogger said it well: I like to take photos, I enjoy writing.

So here we are--''still trying to grab the brass ring, still riding high on the carousel of life." quote from my mom's memory bracelet I had made, years ago now.

  1. I always enjoy your posts and am glad you are still a blogger--I mainly do a Sunday post now--have been blogging for 14-15 years now--bloggers are my friends and keep me going--as I have lost so many family members and friends--don't know what I would do with my blog world--thank you and Moe for keeping me going--hugs, di

  2. I do enjoy looking at your wonderful collections: glass pumpkins, those gorgeous bowls (I do covet those--I had my Grand-mere's old speckled red one but it got broken--so sad!) and the little "quiltlets" strewn among everything...you have such a great "eye" for these little vignettes you've set up.
I do really like reading blogs and peeking into the writers' lives a bit... such fun thanks for sharing your Autumnal gatherings...hugs, Julierose

  3. Thank you for the tour of your lovely home. You have an eye for putting together your treasures, and that cheddar quilt? . . .Well, love it and all the quilts which I glimpse in your photos.

  4. I've heard a number of bloggers say that reading posts is like getting a letter from a faraway sister or friend. A lot like those pioneer women of the past who left family and friends to move west into uncharted territory. The photos we share are the little swatches of fabric shared in those letters, and in many respects pieces of our hearts. I love visiting your little cottage each season when you rotate your lovely treasures but especially in the fall season. Your cheddar quilts are my faves. There are some lovely fall colors here and there, if only the dreary fog and rain would leave so we could enjoy them.

  5. Hey there! Blogger seems to be loading more quickly since last time I stopped by! Will make time to pour over this post later when I have time to savor it. I'm excited!

    1. Hi Kel, lovely to have you visit. Thanks. The slow loading is somewhat my fault as Blogger is set up to allow only one or two pics per post for optimal delivery, but I insost on using dozens of photos, because that's ''my thing''....

    2. I like seeing your seasonal treasures appear each year. It brings comfort and a sense of stability. Annnd, I don't think it's your fault for including many photos. Seems more like once I click on the comment button things get hinky...for me anyway. -Kel
