Happy Easter Happy Passover

Celebrating Spring ~ Rebirth renewal! Wishing a joyful time to all my friends here.

"It's been a long cold lonely winter...here comes the sun, lalalala, here comes the sun..." Beatles, i think.

Photos from around my cottage, over the past month or so. You will see the same scene, same item, ''faffed'' and puttered, redone as the season takes hold on even bah humbug/ I hate Spring me. I hope you enjoy our visit!

A favorite candle, loved more for its color, though it has a delightful apple scent. With beloved Lily of Valley antique plate from Cape Cod Dump Swap Shop. [English, early-mid 1900s?]

Part of my collection of German eggs.

The hen basket, still rusty, hence the grass.

These are eggs from past few years. Most of the collection I no longer display.

I'm particularly attracted to floral designs. The following are new this year, from eBay.

I thought the auction was for this egg but they included four total, really love them all. But--violets! swoon...

These are the chickies often found still stored in the eggs. The green ones came a few years ago, the faded early chenille chicks are from this year's surprise box. I love them. When I was a little girl, my mom would surreptitiously remove the Easter treasures, my paper egg, my pink and lavender chicks, the grass, the funny dyed purple and yellow raffia basket[s], after a week or so. Then she'd trot them all out again the following year! I loved them every time. She was quite frugal in her own way. But even when I was grown up with kids of my own, every year she sent me an Easter basket---and it thrilled me again,  every time.

New faux-Bunny!

Beloved heirloom candy jar [from my dad's aunt's home]. Doesn't ''go'' but is filled with treats each season on the old red jelly cabinet.

This tiny robin's egg appeared every year too. It had a bunny figure I called Thumper. Those old Disney classics aren't shown now, are they?

White tulips, sepiaware.

Here is Mo, looking very happy that I cannot find hos bunny ears. And he has two pairs. [shaking my head].

Have a good holiday season, love to you all.

  1. So fun to spot familiar and favorite quilts among your spring vignettes (pineapple makes me happy)! You put me to shame, the oak dresser in the dining room still has its quilted Christmas runner, sigh. I guess as long as there's still snow in the forecast it's OK. That's my story and I'm sticking with it,lol. That was a beautiful quilt top, sorry you missed out.

  2. You have such a beautiful egg collection--I have never seen the German painted ones before--so gorgeous..and the bunnies are so pretty all set up in your little dioramas around your home;)))
They remind me of the fabric clusters i am working on in my fabric journal;)))
I hope your weekend is a lovely one--full of joy for Spring's arrival...
Tom and i got boosted yesterday so a bit under the weather this morning--but not bad...safe again for a while, huh?

  3. Thank you for such a bright happy Easter visit to your home.
I'm a great fan of fiddling around, drawing/enhancing drawings on the computer. Love your joyful bunch of blooms you created like this. 'Don't stop now - here comes the sun ...'indeed!
Your Great Aunt's candy jar looks very special and just invites filling.
Happy Easter to you and Mo.

  4. LOL that Mo is glad you can't find his bunny ears!!

I always love seeing what you've got out for the season. I love your collection of 'real' and wooden eggs, and your German ones especially the new one with violets.

The potted yellow tulips are SO pretty! I used to not like yellow flowers but those made me smile - like sunshine!

Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

  5. Your eggs are beautiful. The little chenille peeps are the sweetest! And the photos of your home are beautiful, too. It's too bad photos of spring can't make be spring outside. (That's a bit of fantasy!)
I like your drawing and painting. The perspective of the stripes on the table is very fun.
So sorry you missed the blue & white Burgoyne. And by only $2.00!

  6. Your painted eggs are so special. Real treasures. Aww cute litte chickies.

I picked up two primroses more than a month ago on the clearence rack at Lowes garden center. $1 each, I think. They still had some life left in them and made me quite happy :)

It's hard to tell in the photos. How tall is new bunny?

Your house looks wonderful and festive. Glad you hauled out your decorations.
