Hi, friends! "Just checking in..." We say that a lot now, daily texts to be sure everyone is still okay as the virus rages through our area. So far I and my family and friends are still healthy. We have food. Mo is fine, I am fine.
Yesterday was so bright and sunny that I almost got out the summer patio table and my umbrella. Deck time is Mo's favorite time.
The once white wind screens need a good scrub, but it's too soon. I had been hoping to replace them this year.
Here is our usual view, love that blue sky. You can see, lower right, neighbors going to the beach, NOT maintaining a proper distance, though the two couples are probably well-spaced. .
Today was again cold, grey, gloomy. I don't have anything to show you, just snaps of signs of early spring as Mo and I took our afternoon walk. We didn't do any fence peeping, just kept to open public spaces. I didn't see another living creature, not even a squirrel on this rainy day.
emerald green moss, sorry it is sideways:
early, too early hydrangea leaves
Early little weed in bloom. Pretty, dainty.
Buds on the old crabapple trees.
And on the Japanese maples.
Mo escaped his lead and trotted off but the rain kept him from running away too far. He stopped to check out the daylily sprouts.
I am keeping my spirits up. We are isolating. The future is bleak.
Off topic, this is a find from FB marketplace. It says Pick up Only, so not for me. But isn't it adorable and inventive, the tiny rocking chair, sewing chair with the spools on the sides, chair pad pincushion, little drawer for one's thimble and scissors, I imagine. It made me smile.

gone to the beach....
a different spring...
Hi! Don't worry one day this will all be over and life will be good again. We're hanging in here. Picked up groceries, with red licorice!! I'm liking ordering online and just driving up. Tonite a movie and a bit of whiskey. 😊 Take care, Kit
ReplyDeleteI like your check ins. Oh I had big plans for the day.... didn't happen. Its only 4:45 here so I've got a few more hours.
ReplyDeleteEverything is budding out here too, though the day was dark and rainy, nearly all day long. I finally had room in the frig to thaw the turkey breast we've had in the big freezer for months, and cooked it in the crockpot. Found cranberries in the freezer too - yay - Thanksgiving in March. Good to hear that you and your family are all well.
ReplyDeleteWe had a lovely "What'sApp" chat with my daughter and my grandkids tonight...they are all sheltering in place; and Cassidy, just home from college, is self-quarantining for 14 days... so it was great to talk and see them all..a real boost for our low spirits...
ReplyDeleteI sewed 7 more Courthouse blocks --so now I have 22 with 3 rounds done...I am really enjoying this process..glad you are both doing okay....
Hang in there--stay vigilant and sew away...
~ ~ ~ ~ more waving from Julierose ;)))
My sewing, Friday, friends have set up Zoom for a chat each Friday to show what we have sewn at home. We had a trial run today. My emails are not flowing from computer to IPad so had to find another way when I couldn't get visual on the computer. Its like Face Time only you can talk and see several people at the same time. See if you can set it up with your 'thrift market friends'
ReplyDeleteI find things to do every day and sewing is an after thought. My DS dropped off my Grandson's fishing rod, and could I make a bag for it. It's his birthday very soon, so I spent the afternoon working sizes out. I have a piece of linen that will work well.
Keep well and keep blogging.
Puzzling over the comments you wrote and deleted on my blog - what did you say?!
ReplyDeleteBut the buds give us hope, don't they?!?
ReplyDeleteIn a happier world, I d say yes.
DeleteStay well. I love your photos. Maybe think about starting the Anniversary quilt or Bonnie Hunter’s new mystery?

Thank you, Joanna. I am still focusing on winter finishes and baby quilt I must make. I hope to pick up the Anniversary Quilt ["Coxcombe"] when I can handsew the borders. Bonnie hunter's beautiful sewalong mystery projects are far beyond my skills, lol.
DeleteI'll keep busy, no worries.

I find something appealing about moss. Curious growth, but, beautiful in color. The tiny chair is so sweet. Grateful all is well.
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese Maple buds and hydrangea growth are so reassuring of things to come.
ReplyDeleteSo too, the birds on your beach at their appointed time in Nature.
Hang in there Lizzy and precious pup. Penny
I once saw in a magazine a backyard checkerboard made from deep green and bright yellow-green mosses. I thought it was so pretty, even if no one used it for games! I love moss - if I ever had a cobblestone walk I'd want moss growing between the stones...
ReplyDeleteMy daughter found an app called Marco Pollo that lets you send video messages that the recipient can watch and reply to - like a text message but with video. I don't really like to talk on video (why do we always sound so weird to ourselves?) but my DD#1 actually got on it, too, and was messaging me! She seldom does that, so the app might be worth it just for that!
It's hard not to find gloomy gray days depressing, and staying home and being so careful is hard, too, but most of the things you've always blogged about have been fairly solitary pursuits - walking on the beach and finding pebbles and beach glass and odd items, pictures of birds and flowers, your sewing and hand stitching, etc. I'd love to see you do some little watercolor paintings, or making cards with fabric scraps! Do something creative and fun you've been putting off and forget about the world outside for a while!
Take care! And give Mo an extra hug for me!
Well, this post got by me...but ya know what...I really enjoyed reading how your blog friends are discovering ways to keep in touch with friends and family, and Kit's optimism, and Thanksgiving in March being enjoyed by Quilting Babcia.
ReplyDeleteMo looks so cozy. Is that a sweater or a throw on the chair?
Glad you and yours are well,
Hugs,
Kel
