When witches go riding & black cats are seen,
the Moon laughs and whispers,"Tis soon Halloween...."
Happy Halloween, my friends! As October's final days draw near, my blue and white home is being not-so-subtly taken over by cheddar yellow, pumpkin orange; silver and brown. I used to do a much bigger change, using different cushions and brown transferware, but over the years [as I no longer host Thanksgiving or a Halloween party] I have come to enjoy the garish yet charming brief visit of Everything Orange. Then as November arrives and takes over, I'll probably switch to neutral quilts, before ending the beach year with holiday red/ white/ and dill pickle green. It's a bit melancholy but who knows, maybe someday my Turkey plates will appear again? And who could be sad with such happy Fall displays?
"Do I hear treats?"
"I would like a treat, mommy!"
"But I'm a very good boy. I LOOOVE chocolate."
[no chocolate for Mo. Pumpkin treats from TJ's]
love,
lizzy
gone to the beach....
PS we had our first of the winter nor'easter yesterday. It wasn't much, but the waves were huge. Almost on the 6th anniversary of H Sandy. And here we are still. Again.
Everything looks lovely! I love all your cheddar. We are now in a rainy cold spell. We may even have 2 inches of snow on Halloween. That's Montana for you. :) Kit
ReplyDeleteLove seeing all those gorgeous quilts on display! Perfect for the season, and keeping warm on these chilly nights!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled you decorate at all - I haven't decorated for holidays since the girls left home - not worth the hassle for me. I enjoy seeing yours though!
ReplyDeleteMo is so funny - chocolate is BAD for dogs!
I'm glad the storm wasn't TOO bad, and hope you feel better soon! Take care!
Love your cheddar and blue pieces--super (what I call) bread bowl collection.
ReplyDeleteI have decided that my Ojos will be a Holiday tablecloth--am balking at sewing those long (not measured correctly either!) borders..but on this rainy Monday morning I will go and do them...
I love the sound of the rain in our back tv nest...stay cozy hugs, Julierose
This has to be one of my favorite posts. I really need to put more cheddar in my quilts! Love your pumpkins and your Mo!!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see the sunflower quilt again! Gosh it's pretty. Well, they all are :) I think you've done just the right amount of decorating. I understand your feeling of melancholy though. Things are just evolving, and that's not a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteGlad the storm wasn't worse.
Tell Mo he is THE CUTEST!
Kel
PS I envy your mercury glass pumpkins :)
Oh my goodness! All those beautiful, beautiful quilts. You are so talented. Did you also make the orange one folded on the white sofa? Give that sweet Mo a hug for me. Sending one to you, as well. Blessings.
