Fog

Hi! It's the end of June already! I was going to write about beach books and summer reading but I have to take Mo to the vet for his annual check up and vaccinations, so I'll do that post another time. The weekend was cool and foggy. The beach is not always bright sunshine and blue skies, blue water.

I love fog, but maybe not on a picnic day.

A preening Oystercatcher, one of the pair that nests on the west boundary of my beach. I haven't seen its mate. This guy is preening---looking for a new lady? Or perhaps the other OC is minding the babies, hidden in the dunes til it's safe to feed them t sunset.

Be sure to look at the Strawberry Full Moon on Thursday!

gone to the beach....

  1. When I first looked at the seashell picture I wondered how you got them stacked like that...then I realized it was string, lol. I'm a little slow today.

The foggy beach looks 'atmospheric', maybe kind of private. Could be spooky, I guess, especially at dusk. Can you have fires on the beach? Looked like a good day for that.

Hope Mo's trip to the vet goes okay!

  2. Lovely, unusual beach shots. So interesting to see it in a different light with hardy souls and brave birds. Penny

  3. Despite what the temperature may have been, I see fog and I want to put on a sweater!

Hoping Mo's well baby appointment is completely uneventful!

  4. A pic-a-nic! How fun. What was on the menu?

What is the pretty glass orb thing?

Hope Mo is as healthy as a horse ;)

Thank you for creating such a retreat in one's day.

  6. I miss fog! Not driving it in. Sitting in it. ;-)

It used to be so thick on the central California coast that I'd sit on the beach and try to figure out which way the ocean was. You couldn't even see two feet in front of your face and the sound would bounce around like you were in some alien chamber. Too fun until you tried to find your way back to the trail.
