Autumn, Part One Textures, Neutrals and Patterns

Hello! On this warm and sunny afternoon, I set out for the beach to look for signs of autumn.

Here at the beach we do not have brilliant colors or crisp leaves underfoot.  Instead I have learned to take joy in the expanse of neutral grasses, sand, steel grey ocean. Often the only hint of color, besides the blue blue sky, is the hint of amber in the seed heads of the grains.

Photos taken this week, after big Sunday storm: click to enlarge/ slideshow
Heavy flooding, a 5' storm surge reported.

All appears serene, the terrible wind forgotten already.

The swales are deeply filled with storm flood water. In the early mornings I see Vs of geese and ducks flying into these hidden sanctuaries.

Intrepid surfers and kite surfers. The kite surfers always make me think of the book title, "The Kite Runner" but the guys are or in the water!

Welcome, November! Perhaps my favorite month of the yea

  2. Oh, I really like the first photo. Your weather sounds great. Cooler and overcast here this week, it's a nice change.

How do the kite surfers keep from dislocating something, lol.

Enjoy your weekend. Thanks for the Mo pics!

    1. Hi! I think the kite surfing is so scary. Imagine falling into the dark empty big waves ocean! Plus bbbrrrr.

  3. Can't even SEE the one kite surfer, just his kite....are you sure he didn't get tossed off? LOL.

I wonder what made the strange track around that tuft of grass?

Love all the pictures. Its 45 degrees and cloudy here, the idea of walking on a wet beach doesn't sound very appealing to me today for some reason! Although it's probably not as chilly there?

I'm guessing Mo didn't want to be out with his hat/costume on? LOL!

    1. Hi

It s pretty hot here. My car said 79 in parking lot at clinic, 70 here at home....nice beach weather, o wind.

The surfers are waaay behind the kites but both were there and doing ok. They go so fast! It looks so scary to me. Plus one guy regular surfing.

The odd circular pattern around the weed was just one stalk of the weed that bent and was whipped round and round during the storm. They form those round patterns.

Mo was just having fun! He did quite a good job I thought. W his costume.

  5. Your sandy walks looks a bit like my new snow on the ground. Yep snow! A good 3 inches and I am loving it. Great photos, I can almost smell the air. :) Kit

  7. I struggle this time of the year. Everything around me is brown and dry and the weather has changed to cold which causes me to feel a bit like the tin man. LOL
