One of Those Days

Mo with Flowers on his Back

Hi! Little things, irritations and upsets--not important in a world wide view of things, but oh, boy they can ruin a day! So we're going to take a nice ''looking for Fall" walk, me and Mo, and we're gonna try to calm down. Come with?
First we'll garden peep. Look at my friends' GIANT elephant ears and other pretties.

My deck pots.

Next we'll walk around towards the secret pathway to the beach. This is morning.

These are afternoon pix. I like the odd foggy glare and didn't try to edit it out.

I love when people put seasonal wreaths on their old grey gates.

 On around the block...

Don't the ghastly purple berries look fake! Like Styrofoam inside too, I investigated. But interesting.
edit: Blog friend Penny tells us this shrub is called Callicarpa, or Beautyberry. Wiki says the berries could be made into jam. Ha! Styrofoam jam? here .

Montauk daisies and goldenrod. My dad called these Shasta daisies in the midwest.

On to our bench.  See the flower shadows on Mo!

Mo can go from happy to ''Don'wanna'' in seconds. I never know why.

"No means no Mommy. I'm not walking another inch!''

Oh the flubs and issues? Tomorrow will be better, right?
Don't forget to go out and admire this year's Harvest Moon!

love

lizzy

gone to the beach...

Tonight's beach photo is from my friend of the tropical garden at the begiining of this post.

PS Then we have Nate! Only wet weather predicted.

  2. EVERYONE has those days! Maybe it's so we'll appreciate the really good days even more? The walk was a great idea, I bet it helped. The pictures are great. I've never seen the dark elephant ears before! All the flowers were great - I call them Shasta daisies, too. I wonder what the purple-berry plant is?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could ask Mo what the problem was, and get an answer? LOL, of course, he might answer like a 'tween having a fit which also wouldn't help any...

That last photo was unusual and beautiful, tell him/her thanks! The colors are so vivid!

Hope tomorrow is a considerably better day for you! Take care!

    1. Tomorrow is a beach day---but I have nothing planned.

The sitting and sulking is a PUG thing, all pugs do it and owners talk about but of course who knows. I used to carry him, I m pretty sure that s what hurt my hip joints as he is weighing in at over 25 chubby pounds despite his diet.

  3. Thank you for sharing your neighbourhood gardens. Such a treat seeing those hydrangeas, dahlia and especially the shastas. They reminded me of a lovely untidy double one I used to have called Georgeous Gussie after Gussie Moran the tennis player.
The purple berried bush could be Callicarpa?
The weathered wood is the most wonderful backdrop for anything, especially those autumn hues.
I'm constantly amazed at how the light changes on your beach. Both yours and your neighbour' photos are a delight.
Thank you for brightening the day.

  4. The elephant ears look so happy and healthy. Love seeing all of the flowers. Yes, the weathered fence is a beautiful backdrop for just about anything. Sorry about your sideways day. Tomorrow will be better :)

YOUR last photo is really beautiful. Looks like a watercolor. Your friend's photo is stunning as well.

It's heating up again here. 80's today. My friend and I took the Aqua-link this afternoon. It was perfect weather for it. The boat only runs Friday-Sunday now, and will stop altogether at the end of the month. Wanted to make sure we got at least one more ride in.

I admired the moon in the early morning hours and will make a point of padding outside to do the same tonight. I will be raising a glass to all of the souls lost this week.

    Thanks for taking us with,

    Kel

    1. Hi! I forget what we were discussing about black elephant ears. My friend's are beautiful, underplanted with white lilies like Easter lilies!

      Thanks about the photos.

Wonder why your cool boat shuttle stops in the ''winter"? In S California you d think it would be year round. Fun thing to do!

      Have a good week!

    2. I had seen a black elephant ear while in SC. Don't know why the boat doesn't run all year. Business must really drop off.

  8. The day you posted this, I was so glad you invited your readers to "walk out there cares" as well. A lovely stroll with a lovely friend. The purple flower looks as tho there is a bright light emanating from the center. (((((Hugs to you and Mo)))))
