June Roses and a Winner

June!
Hello, hello, let's welcome June.
Today was a glorious day, everything a June day is supposed to be. My friend and I went shoe shopping, always lots of fun, then linen pants shopping---yawn. Afterward we stopped off at Trader Joe's to pick up a few groceries, somehow my cupboard was very bare.

This TJs had lovely flowers. Peonies or roses? Oh it's June, must have roses. These were 4.99 for nine stems.

They are ''white'' roses but as you can see they are like seashells, hints and tints of palest ivory, pink, peach, lemon yellow. [no, Mel, they have no scent.]

Even my neighborhood has roses. This is an especially pretty small pink rose. I like the almost-black leaves it has.

Mo is enjoying spring, lots to see and sniff and pee upon. The long light evenings are a delight.

Winner of the doll quilt giveaway is Cathy Lynch. Cathy, I don't have an email for you, pls get in touch so I can mail you your little Flying Geese doll quilt. email me at lizzzz.d@gmail.com. Thanks.

gone to the beach...

PS the beach roses have also burst suddenly into bloom. Oh that scent, salt air, roses, and honeysuckle.

  1. Ahhh! Such pretty flowers. Both the roses you got at TJs, and that little pink rose in your neighborhood. I was at TJs, mulling over which color peonies to get, couldn't decide, left empty handed.

Glad your weather is looking up. It looks beautiful there.

    Congrats Cathy!

  2. Congrats to Cathy!

The roses are lovely, too bad they don't smell good, too!! When my sister visited we went to the greenhouse and spent a half hour just going around smelling the roses - only about half had any scent. But some smelled really good!

The local pink rose with such dark leaves is very pretty. I wonder if I could figure out what variety it is? Was it low-growing, like a groundcover rose? Now I'm curious!

Hope you have a good weekend coming up to make up for the soggy one last week! Take care!

  4. Oh your roses are lovely! My bush roses have just started blooming and I make any excuse to go outside and sniff them. Between roses, lilacs and lily of the valley, I am in heaven. :) Kit
