Doll Quilt Swap ~ Denise to Lizzy

Hi again! Continuing our fun show and tell week, here I am showing off the little quilts from Lori's 4th annual doll quilt exchange. I've participated every year and have four glorious little quits to show for it.

This is the quilt I received this year. From Denise Davis to me. Isn't it stunning! I love it.

Denise must have a fabulous fabric stash, notice her selection of fabrics here. Not one, not two ,but three or more yellows, many greens and so on. I also like that she juxtaposed the almost confetti-like colored prints with a single softly textured cream print. The quilt sparkles, it glows.

The meandering quilting is a great idea for a Log Cabin quilt, I've never seen that before.
Beautiful backing, handmade label, perfect binding. Thank you Denise, I'll cherish this beauty.

......

Here is the quilt I made for my partner, Kevin H.

He took super nice photos so I ''borrowed'' his pix, hope it's okay.

Last fall I made two [3?] quilts as possibles for this exchange but when swap time came I wanted to design a special quilt for Kevin.  I chose my 12 most favorite repro prints, looking for saturated colors and used some hoarded deep turquoise repro fabrics as the sashiug and borders.

I used an antique linen homespun for the backing. Corner label, not sure I love this method. It had chickens on the label because Kevin is raising his own chickens!

The Flying Geese fast-sew method makes four similar or identical geese at a time, so, to be sure Keven's Geese had enough variety, I made a bunch of extras.

This left me with a stack of unused Geese, so I sewed them up into two more even tinier quilts.

This littlest one was a gift for Lori for doing the swap. No, she doesn't ask for gifts or anything else, but I wanted her to have a token of appreciation, so I chose this one for her.

The backing is an antique orphan block, Pink Bow Ties. I knew she'd love that. [I often use solo antique blocks for doll quilt backs, a way to enjoy them and preserve them. ]

.....

This is the third little quilt: so here's my idea for something fun! I will share it some lucky person in a giveaway.

pls disregard the blue batik behind the little quilt
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment here or on my FB page; if you're not into blogs/ FB, you can email me privately and I'll add your name to the list. Be sure wherever you leave your message that you put an email for  me to reach you, if you are a no-reply blogger.
 Got that?
I hope someone wants to try!? For my non-quilter friends, feel free to enter too---you might have a child or friend with a doll who'd love a quilt; tiny quilts make cute table toppers and candle mats.

You may note the slightly crumpled appearance of the last two quilts. I always wash my quilts for that rumpled vintage look unless I know, like with Kevin's Geese, it will need a more pristine appearance to be pleasing.

Anyway, be sure to add your name to the giveaway. The drawing for the prize will be June 1 when the linky party on Lori's blog closes.

  1. LOL, like the little 'mountain' on the beach!

Love seeing the little quilts, and yours looks so perfect against Kevin's red barn!

I wouldn't mind having a little quilt! I'd have to hang it, though - if I laid it somewhere the cats would think it was theirs!

    Thanks for sharing!
