Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Birthday, America! I love to celebrate this holiday. I have a big collection of little Stars and Stripes, many of which I have found on the beach over the years.

Patriotic quilts.

This weekend's project.

A little Flag quilt, a free pattern from Temecula Quilt Company.

This is a beautiful but damaged blue and white rescue quilt. It is supposed to be one of this summer's projects, if I find a good blue solid and can do the work.

From the deck I can see the white lifeguard stand on the beach. I can picture my family and friends out there, enjoying this beautiful day.

  3. The little quilted flag is very cute. All of your flags are so festive. Which is the one your Dad made?

I like the close-r up pic of the lifeguard stand.

Much milder Temps here this week. Saw some fireworks last night.

    Happy 4th!

    1. Hi Kel! My dad made both the wooden hanging signs, I believe the design is the original Betsy Ross flag w the stars in a circle. The large flag behind my swan used to hang on the grey shingled outer wall of my family's Cape Cod house. The smaller one hangs on my deck, he made that one just for me. [He also made the gorgeous Shaker chest that the swan is sitting on!] I treasure all the things he made. btw When we lived in IL he used to paint the garage door as a flag each year, and one year got RWB pinstripes put on his white Corvette, lol! And of course his Jeep had a star n stripes spare tire cover!

  5. Sorry you had to miss the beach, but happy to see all your stars and stripes! LOL, I see Mo tried to steal one of your quilts. I hope you can find the right fabric to fix the blue and white quilt, it's pretty, and your new little flag for the new quilt is very nice, too. I guess the only way to make a little flag on a quilt with the 'right' number of stripes would be to resort to using embroidery to do the white stripes! I never really thought about it before... Too much work!

I hope you had a pretty good (and less pain!) day and that NEXT year you'll get to be out there on the sand having fun with everyone else!! Happy 4th!

  6. I love the patriotic theme! It is bright, cheery, and makes me proud!

I do love that you rescue quilts! The only thing my thrift stores/estate sales have that is available to rescue are old afghans ... but it doesn't get cold enough (generally) to use them.

Happy 4th and better health for the remainder of the summer!

    The beach photo looks busy!
