Hi guys! Mo and I spent the past couple afternoons watching the Navy's Blue Angels [fighter jet stunt team] practice and perform over my beach. click pix to enlarge
The Blue Angels are always a thrill to see. The nosedives from great height heading straight down to the beach are heart-stopping.
And they're fast! I end up with a lot of blue sky pix like this.
The show days are fun but the best are the practice days. The jets fly low over my beach! With a roar. I don't think the photos really show it, but these jets are low and close. Far closer than even a low landing airliner. It's quite a thrill.
Then today the skywriting plane wrote God Bless Our Military, instead of his usual Free Drinks for Ladies Happy Hour at Joe's Bar. I was so touched and proud, remembering my dad who was an AF pilot.
Other fun things...the geese and their babies on the golf course this week! Yay!--- the DEC police didn't get the babies this year.
And at a friend's BBQ last night. I'm not a beer drinker but this smelled amazing.
A local summer ale brewed with presumably local honey. Great label with our classic beach banner sign over the ocean being puller by a BEE. Who is, lol, a seaplane, see the skids?
From a friend who attended the pre-opening reception at the new Freedom Tower / One World Trade Center in NYC.

Fourteen years after 9/11 we have a new and splendid tower to be proud of.

ReplyDeleteGreat pics of the Blue Angels....Since I'm minutes from the Naval Academy we get to see them in all their glory every year and since I'm a Brooklyn born girl, I love the pictures of the beautiful city. Happy Memorial Day!
ReplyDeleteCool that you get to watch the Blue Angels practice! I've only seen them 'in person' once, at an air show way back when my oldest brother was still active duty.

Wow! I love the Blue Angels! The last time I saw them I was 2 days away from giving birth 33 years ago. We were hoping the show would shake the baby loose...LOL :) Have a great weekend! Kit
ReplyDeleteWOW! The Blue Angels flying over is pretty exciting. I've never seen them before. We live close to an airport where F18's sometimes perform training for take-offs and landings. It is kind of spectacular, and kind of pee your pants scary. It sometimes seems as if they are literally going to crash into the house...and the noise is bone jarring. All in all though, it's fun...sort of :)

That beer bottle is a keeper. I've become more of a beer drinker since I figured out that wine is a definite hot flash trigger for me :(
My sister said she had to bust out her Patagonia jacket a couple of days ago, lol.
