Hi guys! Yesterday was Mo's first birthday! He is officially a full grown doggy now.
One year ago baby Mo was born in the mountains of California. We were so excited, I had done all the adoption paperwork for him in advance and his birth was eagerly awaited by our family and friends.
He was flown to NYC all alone, in June, 10 weeks old.
Now he's my little friend and constant companion. For a treat I took him to the puppy park today.
It was cold but bright sunshine.
Mo had fun chasing the big pitbull dogs up and down the fence.
The park is less attractive than ever, after being under drifts of snow for months. It's a shame it cannot be a prettier place for our dogs, but we're grateful it exists at all.
Back home I gave Mo a special braided rawhide chew. We sat out on the deck! The sun was bright and the wind had lessened so in a sheltered spot it was quite nice. [37* / 18 mph wind. LOL] I sewed the label for the Flags quilt while Mo napped in the sun.
Later a friend came with gifts and COOKIES!
Mo knows if he gets one of these cute dog cooky treats it's a special day.
I am making a quilt for Mo. It might have been ready for his birthday but I ran out of the sashing fabric. If he doesn't like to lie on it, or if he scrabbles it with his nails as he sometimes does, I'll use it to as a crate cover.
I have this cute red doggy print for the outermost border and a few scraps with sweet puggy puppies to sneak in.
I am thinking of adding a layer of thermal fleece, does that sound like a good idea? Has anyone ever made pet quilts or bedding?
One year old! Mo is demanding and naughty, true---but he always makes me smile.
Happy Birthday, Mo!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Mo. I've sure enjoyed seeing him grow up. What a fun doggy quilt.
Great label!
Happy birthday, Mo.
ReplyDeleteIt's so special to have pics of him as a newborn.
His quilt is so cute.
I often use heavy flannel for the quilt backing. It's so soft and cuddly.
Back to work for me. I hope you have a great weekend.

I'm sure Mo will like his quilt...he just may be hard on it. I think I'd stick to cotton or wool batting just in case he decides to chew on it. Although we HOPE he won't! I like the quilt so far! Please post pics when it's all done!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable little Mo is! Happy Birthday to him! What a fun park for the dogs! Good exercise too. Up and down the fence..smile! Love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Awww! Happy Birthday Mo!! The photo of him as a puppy with the blue bow around his neck is my favorite. I wonder if he knows how lucky he is to have landed at your door?
ReplyDeleteHis quilt is so cute.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Yes that blue bow baby picture was the clincher. It was very hard to choose a puppy because they were all so cute and looked alike.
DeleteA very Happy Birthday to your Mo! He sure is a sweetie. :) Kit
