Merry After-Christmas!

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that Santa brought you all your wishes. Our Christmas this year was so fun! Lots of guests for Christmas dinner stretched my little cottage's walls to the  limit, not to mention my cooking expertise was a bit inadequate. But the food was good , the gifts were successful, and I think we all had fun.

Whew. Glad that's over! lol.

My family has decamped, off to the ski slopes and I am organizing projects to work on during the sudden peace and quiet. Sharing here, a few pics:

Christmas Eve we do antipasto, pink champagne, and homemade lasagne. Then we open our gifts!

Christmas Day means a big dinner with family and friends. This year's menu was a bit simplified, because I am still not back 100% and didn't want to be too tired to enjoy my party:

Menu
***antipasto and cheese on Snowflake plate, baguette, crackers.
Salad: baby lettuces [butter, radicchio] with mandarin oranges, apple, gorgonzola./Poppy seed dressing.
Main: Prime rib with horseradish crust. Brown gravy and/ or creamy horseradish sauce. /Wild rice pilaf with dried cherries. / oven roasted asparagus and brussel sprouts, garlic roasted with chestnuts with béarnaise sauce. Red wine.
Dessert: Red Velvet cake/ tea***

I write it out so I remember everything, a trick Ilearned from my mother-in-law, who used to orchestrate huge holiday dinners.
The house looked so festive!

My treasured, much loved Noah's Ark, made by my parents, plus a few additions from friends...and a few babies found on the beach! Look closely.

I'll enjoy my home's Christmas finery through Twelfth Night---how about you guys? Is the tree already out at the curb and the leftovers all are eaten?
Wishing everyone a good New Year!

love
