October Tapestry

Hello! It's cooler today...and grey.

I went to the salt marsh park, looking for evidence of bittersweet, to cut for a door wreath,

....to fill my crocks and bowls with color.

I don't cut the bittersweet at the park, of course...but it gives me a hint when it will be the right day to trudge into the scary road verge [ticks! poison ivy!] on my yearly hike.

''A tangerine and russet cascade of kaleidoscopic leaves, creates a tapestry of autumn magic upon the emerald carpet of fading summer.''
Judith A. Lindberg

Below, last three pix: this is where the little wooden bridge and grassy path lead...out into the marsh, so we can see it close up, see the ospreys' nest and salt ponds which attract geese and ducks and egrets [but not today].

  1. Oh, what fun. Seasons! We have Summer and Summer. Okay, a little Spring thrown in.

    Missed you.

  2. Such a treat to have you posting again.

  3. Beautiful pictures! The colors just pop on the gray-day background! Lots of colors there. I haven't seen much color here yet, but then a lot of years we don't get much at all.
    Hope today goes/went well!'

  4. Great photos. and like Hunter, We will get maybe 20 minutes of fall before what passes for winter descends with biting north winds over the water. It is still in mid-high 80s here during the day. Humidity too high to shut off the AC and open windows...but soon...

  5. But the leaves of the poison ivy are so pretty!
