Hi! A few pix and menus from the holiday.....
Here's a new "baby"---isn't he gorgeous!
We celebrate on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day...
The menus are traditional, just what I loved when I was a little girl!
Christmas Eve: big antipasto [cheeses, breads, salami, pickles, olives, tiny carrots, etc] and champagne, served at dusk while my family opens stockings and exchanges gifts.
Later...homemade lasagna...and Christmas cookies.
Christmas Day: a time for extended family to and friends to join us at the beach.
First: A smaller cheese plate and wine or beer. This year I did a whole wheat baguette, sliced very thin; with fresh goat cheese and chutney, yum!
Dinner :
a "constructed" salad...romaine with blue cheese and walnuts; a sweet dressing of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, tarragon, garlic.
Main course:
Prime rib with a horseradish mustard crust
gravy
horseradish sauce
brussels sprouts roasted with chestnuts
potato pie ( mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, green onions, sour cream, bacon, black
pepper, butter. Baked in a pie crust.)
Festive! Delicious!

gone to the beach....(to walk off that meal!)...
Oh I just love your tree! And your table setting is gorgeous. You sure know how to celebrate! Have a very Happy New Year! Kit
ReplyDeleteSounds absolutely delicious (even though I don't eat meat) and your tree is full and beautiful! Wishing you light and love, peace and contentment, health and happiness in the new year. Blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous party you 'invited' us all to! And we didn't even get crumbs on your floor!
ReplyDeleteYou've got a beautiful home, have a lovely tree, and set a wonderful table!
Hoping it was as much fun to attend as it was to view!
