"...summer has goneWind high and cold, the sun low, short its course
The sea running high.Deep red the bracken; its shape is lost;
The wild goose has raised its accustomed cry,
Cold has seized the birds' wings;
Season of ice, this is my news."
- Irish poem, 9th Century
I have one word for the weather here at the beach...Brrrr!
A gale force wind has been blowing from the north-northwest for almost a week! First frost as arrived too....but it isn't the cold, though sub-freezing is unusual here in early December.
But it's not the cold....It's the wind.
I fnally got out my mittens...
I suppose a winter coat is next? Darn!
"...And night is long
And cold is strong
In bleak December."
- Christina Giorgina Rossetti, The Months

ReplyDeleteIt's the first time it does not look inviting to me although it is only 10 degrees here in NY. Nice post Lizzy.
