Summer Breeze

The softest, gentlest, most perfect zephyr of a summer breeze is wafting through my open screen doors tonight. Yes, I know...it 's October! And we even had a few grey, cool days. But summer is back...in its purest form, summer as it should be: brilliant sunshine, soft breezes, cool clear nights.

(sigh) And so here I am making white Christmas doves!

Aren't they sweet!

I LOVE how they came out!

Each is made from a different vintage textile, each holds a tiny treasure in its beak.

And I made a few brown doves too!

Sweet little sparrows? Christmas robins?

These are made from treasured bits of antique calico, rescued from the backings of quilts too worn to save.

I love them!

Hope you all are enjoying "Indian Summer" too! Autumn seems a long way away right now, doesn't it?

PS The brown doves will be in my etsy shop soon. The white doves are sold, I am thrilled to report. (Thank you, E!). But you can pre-order them if you like, please ask! I can usually fill orders up to 10 pieces in 2 weeks.

  2. I love your birds Lizzy and I love the hearts you make too. They are inspiring me to get my sewing machine out and start making some of my own. I can see your spirit in them. So sweet.
