Bunnies, Chickies, and a Feedsack Pig

Good morning, friends! I've been adding a few--very few!--little Easter touches this weekend. Just pics/ no words, mostly. Enjoy.

Note the fog outside my windows.

Feedsack animals from Springfield OH market.

This is the Piggy, above

A few of my German papier mache eggs.  I have dozens collected since childhood.

Tiny Baskets quilt from Dorothy Ramage, a treasure.   @dorothy_ramage

My Shaker box stack is getting too tall!

The amaryllis bloomed. Not Big Red.

A Rookwood bunny from my brother and SIL.

Rookwood's online post. Adorable.

I saw this front step decoration on one of my now-solo walks. It made me smile, isn't it delightfully bright and fun. Harpy Easter, Welcome Spring (or Autumn)....

gone to the beach.......

gorgeous sunsets now, as the sun moves south. This one filled the entire beach world with violet and pink light. "Angel skies", we call them. Evn the eastern [sunrise] horizon was lavender., and the ocean looked purple. Very dramatic show, as if even the air we'd breathe was lavender.

  1. Love the colors of the two little table mats underneath the chickens display, Lizzy...
your amaryllis is beautiful--such a lovely creamy white color...
Those paper mache eggs are so pretty...
wonderful displays you've set up...they certainly welcome Spring...now if the weather would just cooperate, right?

    1. I enjoy seeing the put away collections each year---rotating thru the seasons, tho here on the blog I know some friends think "Same old, same old"--like the choc bunny who finally broke. I loved him, what a find! and he was front and center for many years. The ''mats'' are little doll quilts, or meant to be. I mention it bec my quilting mentor, a designer I worked with, frowned on tiny quilts: They look like placemats, she'd scoff. So I didn't make little quilts til Lori's doll swap began. But yes, mats they are.
Amaryllis--no other buds, but I'm still hoping!

  2. Breathtaking Sunset!!! The sunsets at sea level are so much more magical than the ones here in the mountains. Here the sunsets only last till the sun goes behind the crest of the mountains and pffft! it's gone. The sunsets I have seen at sea level linger on and on.
The white amaryllis is very lovely and lacey.

    1. Hi, Robin! I never thought about it but yes, sunsets at the beach last a log time--hours! Cape Cod too, it was a favorite of my parents for their after dinner drive to the local beach. //I am pleased this amaryllis survived and bloomed. The others have no buds, too bad.

  3. This post is a delight for my eyes, and reminded me that I needed to find and display the Ukrainian and Polish Easter eggs my mountain friend hand painted many years ago. And it's definitely time for some spring quilts! It's always so fun to see how you've lovingly changed up the decor to suit the seasons.

    1. Hi! Glad you enjoyed your visit here. You must find your Ukrainian and Polish eggs and post a pic for us. I tried to learn to do pysanky years ago, too hard, w the tiny wax stylus and reverse batik method.
Not ready for spring quilts here, it's very cold by the ocean still. I m thinking of a spring quilt w flannel backing for the future, now that you got me actually using the quilts I make.

      Happy Easter

  4. I love your collections assembled and dotted around your home. It's like an Easter egg hunt - spot the next group!! Ukrainian and Polish eggs must be wonderful. I've been watching how they're made on IG.
Your white amaryllis is glorious. What a sight. There's also something special about small quilts that can be tucked in or under so many places. They're lovely.

    1. Hi Penny. I hope you don't mind seeing the same old stuff every year, see my note to julierose above. My brother has been good about sending me a few new bits, like the Bunny from Rookwood.
Aren't the pysanky [eggs] beautiful. I tried to learn but failed, it is a very difficult craft to master. My friend who was my quilt mentor was of Russian heritage and she made the eggs, so beautiful.
I have so many little quilts my own and swapped and gifted. I try to use them, as you said--sweet little accents.

      love

    1. Sadly now that Mo is gone, my house is a lot neater and less dog-hairy. But If I had my choice I d choose a lived in house full of pets and kids, friends and quilts.Full of life. And..I edit out the mess and stains as best I can, lol.

Surprised you never see the German papier mache eggs. Popular in US since late [1880s?]Victorian times. They can be dated by the interior marking of ''Made in''--- various names of Germany. Two of the eggs showed are from Penny in South Africa! And some are tin, from Home Goods. I don't get out my huge collection anymore, tho I love them.[they held candy or tiny easter chickies etc; the very old ones had tiny dolls or special toys.My faves are serious stern early Bunny images, esp w odd colors like red, teal, brown; and ones that still have paper lace or grass and tiny chicks. I dream of finding one w a china head doll someday. [eBay, huge bucks--some w tiny wardrobes!] My mom saved her paper eggs from childhood and every Easter would refill them for me and my brother, then she'd carefully put them away again.
