Thanksgiving

 Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello friends! The turkey plates, the candles, the best silverware will remain unused in their dark cupboards this year. Thanksgiving is cancelled.

I must be thankful, and strong, and hopeful. A few tokens in my home, just for me, and some memories
of better years, hopes for the future.

This year:

Looking back:

Note: The Pilgrims landed in Cape Cod in 1620, four hundred years ago. They set their weary feet on a beautiful land full of challenges, hunger and strife, darkness and fear. But they were hopeful pilgrims, looking for their futures. 2020 is the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower landing---it has not been mentioned or celebrated. Coronavirus? Political correctness? Plimouth Plantation has changed its name. A heritage, a story of America has passed unnoticed. The Mayflower returned to Plymouth over the summer, mostly ignored. [commemorative fabrics, below]

I used to love Thanksgiving, especially in Cape Cod. My mom would put the BIG turkey in the oven with a timer, so trusting! And we'd pile into the car and drive around to the various historic sites: Corn Hill, First Encounter Beach.

We can have an honest history, I understand that. But I fear a heritage. a joy in America, is gone. Lost in a mire of pandemic and poor leadership, and PC bigotry.

If you're able to be with friends or family, or if you are alone on this holiday, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
