Pink Moon

''April's Full Moon is traditionally called the Full Pink Moon because of the seasonal appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox—one of the first spring flowers!'' [Old Farmers' Almanac]
I for one have never seen wild phlox but I remember the pale pink ''spring beauties'' that carpeted the woods of my rural Ohio childhood.

Hi! I braved the gale wind today to go out to inspect the beach at full moon, low tide.

The boardwalk is out, and the bench has returned. I hope to find some moments to sit here and sew Dots, wind permitting.

The beach itself looks pretty good, if low.[eroded vertically].

I'm dying to know what this big black thing is. Far far away, a couple miles.

Rocks for the proposed jetty? Giant trash bags, a lost truck, a shipwreck? Even with my best binoculars I can't discern what this is. Soon I must find the time and energy to hike over there and see.

You can see the foam from the churning wind driven waves, and the sand blowing even on the wet areas.

The shadblow is blooming in the dunes.

Back home I made a hot cup of double bergamot Earl Grey tea, and sat with Mo for awhile on our sheltered deck, behind the white canvas windscreens.

The wind was really buffeting, I wonder if stormy weather is coming soon? Indoors, for a bit of brightness, I have a little jug filled with orange-y red ranunculas. Trader Joe's always has them briefly for a week or so in April.

My newest candle is called Sundress, with hints of bergamot and daylilies, so sweet. here

Earlier I put out all the down comforters to air in the sun and wind. Tonight the freshly made beds will smell of salt air, with hints of pink April full moon. Magic.

In Kansas, Mel's dandelion ''snow''. Adorable.

  2. Ranunculas are so pretty! Hanging bedding outside - such rewarding effects. My choice of tea, at the moment, Chai with milk and sugar.

    1. Hi I recently got a lovely chai tea, I forget what it is tho. I like it for breakfast. But even tho I try all types of tea, and like them, I keep coming back to Earl Grey. Love the aroma.

  3. LOL, thanks for not showing my weedy flower bed! Your flowers are so pretty, I think the ranunculas look a little like cabbage roses but I have no luck growing them - not sure why.

Mo looks comfy on the deck and I bet your comforters smell great! The pink moon is so pretty, too. Here I think we had clouds as it's been a rainy week - not a lot of rain, but lots of drizzle and sprinkles.

My favorite tea is Chai latte too. I like the scent of Earl Gray, but never liked the taste much. I also recently found a really good black currant tea, makes a pretty deep pink tea good both hot or cold. Yum!

Thanks for sharing your beach walk!

  4. I love early phlox! Even in my cold climate they are blooming now, mostly in the mountains.

  5. Nice to see the boardwalk and the bench back. Paints a picture, both literally and figuratively. Hope you get to spend a few quiet hours out there doing some sewing.

I'm going with big rocks off in the distance. In any case you'll have to let us know.

The runaculas are so pretty and the jug is perfect for them!

Mmmmm, cup of tea, scented candle, bedding getting some fresh air. Wish I was there :)
I'm in sweet iced tea mode, or chamomile in the evening, but also cooled. I put a couple of fresh spearmint sprigs in while brewing each.

It was a bit hot and very blustery here over the last few days. I've been leaving the ceiling fan on in the bedroom overnight already.

Mel's yard looks so cute. Makes you want to go out and roll around in it.

You and Mo enjoy the weekend. Look forward to your next post :)
