A Winter Tapestry

Hello! The polar vortex has come and gone. Time for a walk on the beach. Come on, the fresh air is so delightful.

The beach and dunes are silent and colorless.

Yet if I look closely, the quiet subtle beauty is revealed. A pale tapestry, with brilliant red-orange accents....

Back at home, Mo seems happy playing indoors more. But we're very grateful that it is now light out for our dinnertime walk at 5 PM.

Yes, the days are getting longer! Did you notice?  I don't mind the cold, but the early dark is not something I enjoy. Hot tea, candles, soup on the stove---what do you do to ward of the winter blues?
How about---January sunflowers! in my friends' garden.

love

gone to the beach....

PS The other day I forgot to include my tiny flag quilt in my 2015 finishes. I love it!

  1. Ahhh...beautiful, just beautiful. The first and last pic--love them.

YES, I had already noticed that the days are longer, so exciting. No more being dark when I head to work.

We got LOTS of rain this week. Thunder and lightning one night too! So... candles, check. Book to read, check. Soup simmering in my Mom's old cast aluminum pot, check. Doesn't get much cozier.

You have sunflowers on your side of the country, we have irises :)

Oh the little flag quilt, I hadn't remembered that one.

Mo looks good, how's he feeling?

    Thank you for sharing!

    1. You have iris blooming! Lovely.

I thought of you when the weatherman showed pictures of rain and storms. Maybe it helped the flowers bloom?

Your winter cozy plans sound great, do you like a special brand or kind of candle? Any faves?

      PS Mo is all better.

  2. The pictures show the beauty no matter what the season is! We've got another cold week coming up. I've been enjoying a lot of time in my sewing room prepping projects for an upcoming retreat. Must haves for winter days? Pellet stove (always going!) hot tea and homemade cookies! And yes...I realized last night it was still light out at 5!!

  5. The rose hips look good but the stickers on the stems look scary! I love the pictures, especially the first and last ones. Mo looks like he's having fun - is he playing on a stack of pillows? King of the Mountain? LOL! And I can't believe there's still a sunflower alive, much less thinking about blooming! It's chilly here, 28 degrees at noon, and I'm fighting the tail end of my cold so I'll be curled up with hot tea and watching movies. Although I might make soup later. Thanks for sharing your walk!

    1. Yes Mo is lying on a stack of pillows in those photos, he loves to throw the pillows and cushions off the couch, then he is The King on top.

      Did you make your soup?

  6. Howdy! Snowy and cold here. Love that you can wander the beach with Mo. I love these darker cozy days. They give me license to read and watch movies and play house. :) You have a great weekend! Kit
