A Beach Walk

Hello! A perfect day today---sunny, 75*, light breeze, dry air. Let's go down to the beach to visit the birds and to check out the aftermath of the ''storm".

The boardwalk and benches were removed in case of hurricane. Too bad, especially the dune bench. I was looking forward to a half hour of quiet knitting there on sunny winter days to come.

The oystercatchers left promptly on October 2nd. I saw their small family / flocks circling the beach before they left. Only the gulls and a few sanderlings remain.

The gulls love to soar high in the brilliant blue sky.

October dunes:

Big waves:

To the far left, that speck is a fisherman.
You can see in comparison
how big the waves are.

Sunny days, early sunsets.

  2. Ahhh, beautiful pics today Lizzy. You outdid yourself.
The dunes and the water look beautiful. Sorry they took your bench so early in the season :(

My friend just gave me a belated b-day gift--a hibiscus (bare root) that will have purple-ish foliage and red flowers, supposedly the size of a dinner plate! She has planted it in a pot and will tend to it for me until it's safe to hand it over. I sometimes don't give my plants the love they deserve, she knows this, and will give it a good start for me.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

    Kel

    1. What a great birthday gift! I hope when you take iyour hibiscus home, it survives. My friend with the tropical garden wants hibiscus next year, he says. $$$ since they don t winter over here.

Yeah, they took away my bench just when Mel began teaching me to crochet, long distance. But Mo's bench near the seawall is still there.

  3. I love the sand photo, with all the little footprints in it from the birds. All great pics! Very glad you didn't get the hurricane!

It seems like it's getting dark awfully early already, and we haven't changed the time yet! When they do it'll feel like we moved to Alaska or something...!

Take care, and thanks for sharing.

  4. Hi Lizzie...beautiful pics as always! When you are finished organizing your sewing space, can you pleeeez come over and do mine? It had to be a mass delivery from aliens and a spaceship. There is no way I could have accumulated this much fabric, etc in nearly 11 years! Love ya,
