Sweet Dreams Are Made of These....

Sweet dreams are made of this

Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something.

Sweet dreams, Sunny Mornings....

av special order

It's an old saying, often embroidered in red- or blue-work, on pillow cases. Morning glories and...what? Night blooming jasmine? More like poppies and regular old roses I think, but lovely and fun. Summer lights are short but sleeping under the open window, sea breeze gently blowing the curtains, crisply ironed linens, a sweetly faded summer quilt...the sound of the waves.

Perfection.

However just in case our frazzled lives make that a pipedream, lol, I recently made some small aromatherapy dream pillows....

These small pillows are sewed with vintage textiles (all natural, 100% linen or cotton) which I of course carefully launder.

I sew on a scrap of my antique handmade lace...

And I fill them with herbs chosen for their homeopathic properties that will hopefully induce relaxation and a restful sleep: chamomile, lemon balm, lemon verbena, flax seeds, and of course some lavender.
Very sweet on your sofa or porch swing too! Hammock? Deck chairs....

I do add a bit of fiberfill, usually bamboo, because otherwise you just have a heavy sack of herbs. No so nice, trust me, we need the fluffies!

Oh they smell wonderful! And a little different, nice for those of you who may prefer the lemony scent instead of just lavender.

Also smaller, lavender and flax seed eye pillows, for yoga or just for relaing....

And---fun and new: some beachcombings....

Just in case you don't have the time...or a beach.....

And a few extra small tags made from the tiniest scraps that I can't bear to toss out! Old mother of pearl buttons and a nice long flax string for tying on whatever...a pitcher , a vase, a curtain tieback, a gift, a dresser knob.

I even found a heart on a pair of khaki shorts! It's my own heart that I felt wasn't nice enough to share and it needed a bath.

I had pinned it to my shorts for the washer and forgot...cute!
See, you can wash them if needed. Though I don't guarantee that! You can experiment though; for the safety of your washing machine zip them securely in a cotton pillow protector, not in a cargo pocket. Then just add a dab of scented oil behind the button to renew the scent.  (And please don't wash the pillows. Pls send them back to me for refurbishment instead.)

Have a great week!

  3. Oh, what beautiful work. I could smell all the scents as you said them.

We don't have a lot of shells or beach glass on our beaches. Most of them slam against the lava rocks and end up in fine pieces. I do love the lava rocks, though. So strong and pretty at the same time.

Aloha and I hope you're having a wonderful day.

  4. Hi Lizzy. I have the heart you sent me hanging on my medicine cabinet glass knob. I love it there and see it every time I wash my hands or face etc. Love your heart and hearts.
