Pumpkin of a Different Color

I got my Autumn pumpkin!

My market had beautiful heirloom pumpkins and gourds.

And, well, you all know how much I love the color turquoise, right?

There they were, a lovely crate of Cinderella pumpkins  in shades of soft blues, greys and greens.

A turquoise pumpkin! I LOVE it!

And, so cool...if/ when I carve it, the insides are supposed to be brilliant orange. How wonderful is that! I usually keep my gourds and pumpkins through Thanksgiving, just carve an orange  jack-o-lantern with the kids. But I may be tempted...

Amazing....

What type of pumpkin did you all buy? Do you carve a jack-o-lantern every year?

  1. I've never seen pumpkins like these. Never seen one any other color than orange. I'm 63!! Where have I been or where do they grow these. Wonderful. And in your favorite color.
    Thanks for sharing Lizzy

  2. Hi Peggy! The paper crates were marked "Heirloom Pumpkins" but no name of the specific seed type. They are colored like Hubbard squash only bluer/ greener. I guess they are grown at the small farms here in the NE---NY, NJ, PA? There was another batch that was two-tone: Bottom half was almost black(dark green)and the top bright orange! Big! The two colors were sort of stripey where they met at the equator. Hard to resist! The creamy white gourds and mini pumpkins (Baby Boo) come that way, you just have to search thru the bins....and maybe give them some help with some white craft paint if their warts are too colorful, LOL.

I m glad you enjoyed the post!
